This collaborative artwork, created as part of the Oxford Human Rights Festival, brings together voices from the community to explore the meaning of home and highlight the fundamental human right to shelter.

Crafted through a participatory "Craftivist" event, the piece is a testament to the power of creativity in activism, sparking conversations about security, belonging, and displacement.
Displayed at Westgate Shopping Centre, this exhibition invites the public to reflect on the challenges faced by those without a safe place to call home and to consider how we can work towards a more just and compassionate world.

🎬 We are delighted to be hosting a screening of the film Lyd by acclaimed Palestinian film maker, writer and journalist Rami Younis, and New York based documentary filmmaker and media artist Sarah Ema Friedland as part of the 2025 Oxford Human Rights festival.

Book your tickets now: https://www.brookes.ac.uk/alumni-and-supporters/events/2025/03/gaza-scholarship-annual-lecture

Lyd is the story of a city that once connected Palestine to the world - what it once was, what it is now, and what it could have become. A sci-fi documentary that follows the rise and fall of Lyd - a 5,000 year old metropolis that was once a bustling Palestinian town until it was taken over when the State of Israel was established in 1948. As the film unfolds, a chorus of characters creates a tapestry of the Palestinian experience of this city and the trauma left by the violent expulsion.

This screening will offer attendees the chance to take part in an exclusive Q&A session with the directors themselves, and all donations will go towards supporting the Oxford Brookes Gaza Scholarship. View this event and more on our website found on the 'learn more' button below!
