TUESDAY OCTOBER 20: TOM MCRAE SOLO

Following the sell-out full band tour marking twenty-five years since his debut album, Tom McRae brings his career-spanning solo show to The Bullingdon this Autumn — an evening of live music and storytelling that moves between the beloved and the overlooked, with the wit and honesty that has made him one of Britain’s most enduring singer-songwriters — alone on stage with a guitar and a catalogue that has quietly accumulated some of the finest songs in British folk and alternative music.

I’m gutted to have to announce that I’ve made the decision to reschedule my upcoming tour in England and Wales for health reasons. I’m very sorry to everyone who bought tickets and made plans in advance to come to the shows; your support is not lost on me, and I don’t take it lightly the effort many of you go to to make it possible to come and see me live. Having just come off of my tour around Ireland, for which I pushed through some poor health that lasted the duration of the tour, I feel it would be irresponsible and detrimental in the long-term for me to embark on this tour before recovering fully.

I’m very lucky to have great support behind the scenes, but nonetheless, touring as a small - but mighty - indie artist means having to do every job on the road, often on my own. I’m driving the entire tour, loading in and out every day, backseat-tour-managing myself and making sure to make it to the merch stand after shows. In full health, this feels like an adventure, and I’m propelled from show to show by the connection I get to experience with all of you on stage every night. When I’m not well, it simply gets too much, and all that I have to do before and after the show inhibits me from showing up in the way that you all deserve on stage.

I hope you all understand. I apologise for the last-minute nature of this announcement. I truly hoped I would spring back in a way that I just haven’t been able to. For everyone that purchased tickets: you have the option to hold onto them and wait for the rescheduled date, or get a refund at your point of purchase.

Sad news aside, there are lots of exciting things coming up! I hope you’ll stick along for the ride - and I hope making this call allows me to show up for these things as my full self. New music perhaps? Who knows! I’ll be hibernating up north for a little bit; getting excited to be back on the road and to share what I’ve been working on. Thank you for your continued support.

NEXT THURSDAY JUNE 11: Mount St. Helen

Citizen Live X Mount St. Helen presents ’The Stillness, The Dancing’ EP Launch Party:

Mount St Helen is the alias of Oxford-based multi-instrumentalist Aris Sabetai, who is joined in the live setting by Francesco Reni (Guitar), Joe Smith (Bass) and Ryan Taylor-Costin (Drums).

Sabetai began Mount St. Helen during Lockdown, blending his love of 90s guitar music with ethereal strings and pop sensibilities. His music draws on a range of influences including indie cinema, animation, poetry, culture, religion and even a fear of flying.

The music centres around themes of nostalgia, faithlessness and loser-dom. The stark black and white aesthetic of Mount St. Helen helps make them feel significant from the outset and perfectly matches the music, which perfectly balances introversion with optimism and hope.
