Exciting collaborative “The Work Space” Ottery St Mary

Welcome to The Work Space located in Ottery St Mary.

This space is for people to create their own workshops, events, talks, creative sessions in a welcoming, comfortable setting.

My name is Alice Bardwell and I am a resident of Ottery. I use The Work Space at present to formulate and hand make my zero waste solid natural deodorants called Pit-Tastic.

I wish to create this space to help us connect together as I believe that connection is paramount in our well being as a society. Last year in March I lost most of my speech, I couldn’t type or read. I had a Stroke at the age of 38. Sadly last year also took the lives of friends with mental health issues adding the number of friends whom have taken their lives in my world to three. A number that is far far to high for any of us.

Through these times it was others who supported me, family, friends and making new friends through the story of my brain injury and formulating my plastic free passion of Pit-Tastic!

It was a tough year but over all it has made me realise that some positive needs to come out of the dark places. I believe that coming together, supporting each other, inspiring each other is what should happen all around the world. I have made the space to shed some light across the dark places.

In the near future I am going to be launching my own free event called “Causing a Stir” where anyone may come to The Work Space to mix my own Pit-Tastic formulation and make deodorants. Stirring and making these bars was my own healing, soothing experience and something I still love to do on a daily basis. The action of stirring something, chatting together I hope may help anyone who needs soothing and an ear to hear them.

The Work Space is going to host other businesses and creatives events from everything from how to make your own silver Jewelry to Sound Bathing, teaching people to block print elegant designs even Macrame.
