📘 Day 4 — Exploring the Guidelines (Part 3: Type, Head & Coat)
Today we’re focusing on the structure and presentation of the Tweed.

Head & Expression
- Large, bold and broad
- Gently curving profile
- Wide, rounded muzzle
- Large, bright eyes
- Ears large, drooping, and well‑set

Body
- Short, cobby, thick‑set
- Good width across shoulders
- Firm flesh and good size for age

Coat
- Soft, clean, free of guard hairs
- Groomed to show off the silvering

This is a variety where type and colour work together — the silvering catches the light beautifully on a well‑rounded body.

If you’ve shown Tweeds before, what do you find most rewarding about preparing them?
Share your thoughts (and photos!) below.

📘 Day 3 — Exploring the Guidelines (Part 2: The Mask & Markings)
Today we’re looking at the mask, one of the Tweed’s most defining features.

The mask should:
- Cover the nose and muzzle
- End at the height of the eyes
- Not touch the corners of the eyes
- Appear darker because the short hair hides the paler undercolour

Meanwhile:
- The belly should remain typical to the standard agouti belly
- Silvering should be even everywhere else

This balance between mask, silvering and belly colour is what gives the Tweed its unmistakable look.

Do you have a Tweed with a particularly striking mask?
Share a pic — we’ll feature some tomorrow.

📘 Day 2 — What Makes a Tweed a Tweed? (Part 1: Colour & Silvering)
Today we’re diving into the guidelines for this striking variety.

The Tweed is a smooth‑coated agouti with a distinctive silvered appearance across the whole head and body. This comes from a modifier gene that “grizzles” the chocolate pigment, creating lighter hairs and a paler undercolour.

Key points:
- The top colour should be Chocolate Agouti or Cream Agouti
- Each hair should show a tipped, lighter appearance
- Silvering must be even all over, except for the mask
- The belly stays true agouti yellow, not silvered

Got a Tweed with beautiful silvering?
Pop a photo in the comments — we love seeing the variety across different lines.
