The shucking team had a very successful Saturday at the World Stone Skimming Championships on Easdale Island.
It is the first time we’ve been invited and we weren’t sure what to expect but it was fantastic - we were busy all day and shucked plenty!! What a venue for an event - people from all over the world were there. I even met a young couple from Vancouver Island who were related to a girl that I was friends with in Paris when we were ‘jeune filles au pairs’ in 1984!!! Such a coincidence - I still can’t quite believe it.
I also met Luisa, the Scottish Geologist; she was giving tours of the island explaining the geology of the rocks. I’ve followed her on social media for a while and I love her enthusiasm and delight while exploring the formation of our country. I’m hoping she comes to Oban again to give tours as I wasn’t able to leave the oyster shucking team!
All in all a great day. I’m hoping we’ll be invited back next year 🤞🏻
