It is with great great sadness that I write this post. Vicki Rosie Ellice Designs (Vicki Hallatt) who sold at our Fairs, very sadly passed away on 20th January following a short illness. She loved making and selling her beautiful jewellery (and teaching others how to). Rest in Peace Vicki, you will be greatly missed ♥️

Did you know that Rutland is home to its very own Castle?

We're so proud of Oakham Castle and its historical links. Situated right in the centre of Oakham and free to enter, Oakham Castle is a surprising find.

Inside the Great Hall you can see 240 presentation horseshoes hanging on the walls, given to the Lord of the Manor by royalty and peers of the realm on their first visit to Oakham. The oldest surviving horseshoe in the collection dates back to Edward IV’s visit in 1470 after his victory at the Battle of Losecoat Field.

More recently, horseshoes have been presented by the Princess Royal (1999), the Prince of Wales (2003), Princess Alexandra (2005) and the Duchess of Cornwall (2014).

The horseshoes really are a stunning sight and well worth a visit on your staycation in Rutland!

This Bank Holiday weekend join us for a fabulous FREE music festival at Cutts Close Park in Oakham. We have music from incredible bands including Vesper, CJ Hatt Music, The Top Banana Band, Funked Up - Band and Freudian Slippers as well as stalls from local businesses, a bar from The Grainstore Brewery Tap and free fairground rides for children!
