Important Event Update

Please see the following statement concerning this year’s Cycle Live Nottingham event which is scheduled for 10th July 2022:

Due to international cricket taking place at Trent Bridge on the same date as our event and given the size of both events, they are not able to co-exist on the same date.

We have spent the last several weeks looking at alternatives but have unfortunately been unable to find a free date that works within the local event calendar or within our own availability.

As such, we have taken the very difficult decision to cancel the event.

We would like to apologise for the delay in giving you this information. It is purely down to the efforts that were being made to find a suitable alternative date as we tried our best to get the event in a position to be delivered after a two year hiatus.

All entries for this year’s event will be refunded. This includes entries that were deferred from 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. We are working with our entry system partners to find the most efficient solution to get your money returned to you and this will be done as soon as possible.

We aim to have all funds returned by 13th May 2022 at the latest. If you haven’t received your refund by this date, then please email [email protected] and we will look into that for you.

We kindly ask you to bear with us while we get these processed for you and not to email about your refund until after the specified date.

Thank you for your continued support of Cycle Live Nottingham and we are sorry we haven’t been able to deliver the event this year for you.

The first few rides will be tough, as will the recovery.

You will be using muscles that may not normally have day-to-day and it will take a while to adjust to the new stress put on your body.

You may experience stiffness following the rides.

Stick with it at this point, get plenty of rest and recovery between rides and this period will pass in no time. 🚴‍♀️

Just starting out? Here are a few essential bits of kit that you will need.

Most important is your helmet. Helmets should be replaced every 3 to 5 years, so it is better to buy a new one rather than using the one that's been hiding in the shed for years.

If you plan on riding regularly you should invest in a good pair of cycling shoes.

A cycling jersey and a good pair of padded shorts can be a good investment too.

Finally, some useful tools include a pump, some inner tubes, and a multi-tool.

What gear would you recommend to new cyclists?

Looking to get fit in 2022?

Cycling is a great activity to get you moving, either on your own or something you can get the whole family involved with.

It is accessible, and most people can already ride a bike, even if they haven’t done it for a few years!

Getting started can be a bit intimidating, so we will be sharing advice on how to go from beginner to Cycle Live over the next few weeks!

First up, the bike. Where to start? Road Bike, Mountain Bike, Hybrid? It can be a little daunting.

We recommend heading out to a local cycle retailer. Most have experts on hand to guide you through the process and help you choose the perfect bike.
