Nancy Friday was an American author who argued that women have often been reared under an outdated and restrictive ideal of womanhood, which is largely unrepresentative of many women’s true inner life. The play explores themes such as communication, emotional tension and subtle differences and shades of meaning in the interaction between the sexes.
