I am highly delighted to be taking part in The Eden Wool Gathering again this year! Last years event, the first one, was wonderful. There was so much lovely fleece and fibery stuff to see and buy and other beautifully crafted non fibre yet wool related work too. The standard of craftsmanship was excellent. Fellow stallholders, volunteers and organisers were a really friendly bunch of folk to hang out. I felt so at home 🥰, and, despite it being a busy event, the atmosphere was really laid back.
I had great time and thoroughly enjoyed myself!
I am so glad Wendy, Eden Textile Studios is going for it again and with even more fluff and stuff! 😃1st & 2nd August, Whithorn.
With lots of kindred wool lovers to hang out with, crafts, artwork sheep, alpaca's, great food, music, waulking, beer...and much more on the menu for this year's event, I am sooh looking forward to being there, and, inspired by the anticipation, I'm beavering away blending batts, trying out different fibre combinations and making some experimental handspun yarns...to be seen later...if they work🤣

Bowmont merino, wool neps, loose bamboo and silk laps...all went through the classic carder like a breeze😀 I highly recommend you get one!

Before the gathering I decided to treat myself to an Ashford e-Spinner.

I’ll be honest — I didn’t expect to like it as much as I do. I’ve always preferred a traditional wheel, but this has completely won me over. It’s smooth, steady, and just makes spinning feel effortless.

No regrets at all.

It was feeling more like Spring this morning. We are all looking forward to the Eden Wool Gathering : planning meetings already going ahead!

Welcome to OmeTeotl!

We are Mat and Stacey and this is our family run business bringing you the best cacao and ClariTea from the Ecuadorian Amazon, and handwoven shawls and ponchos from Oaxaca, Mexico.

We moved to Galloway from Central America four years ago but have kept close ties with the Indigenous Kichwa communities of Ecuador and the Cooperative de Tejidos de Mujeres de Mitla (CTMM), both of whom we have worked with for many years.

Our mission is to support these communities by providing an income that conserves their way of life and also brings benefit to people in the UK who value high quality handmade products.

Our cacao and ClariTea are wild harvested from traditional ‘chakras amazónicas’, an ancient non-invasive agroforestry system that sustainably manages diverse crops, trees and medicinal plants within intact rainforest. This traditional practice enhances food security, biodiversity and resilience against climate change.

We utilise the wild ceremonial cacao to mak

, I am very excited about Eden Wool Gathering! Its wonderful to have a proper woolly goings on do in Wigtownshire...at last! About me...I'm Roz Plant a.k.a Spinessthezia, I am a textile artist/ maker who makes batts from natural raw sheep and alpaca fleece. I dye fleece, process, card and blend them with a range of plant fibres which I also hand dye. I spin yarns, artyarns and make one off items I.e net shawls, loom knitted cowls, hats and crocheted items. I also do batik artworks, clothes and accessories and make textile based jewelry ...but my real passion is FIBRE! I love blending different fibres into batts ❤️ and talking 'fleece n fibre' with anyone who will listen 🤣 I landed in Wigtownshire in 1989, so Eden Wool Gathering feels like a sort of homecoming to me. I now live in Castle Douglas and do my stuff in a very cramped yet cosy fleece lined workshop at home. Looking forward to meeting fellow fibre fans! Thank you for reading. Roz 🙂
