“Every family hopes they will never need the support of the Children's Cancer Unit Charity. For colleague Catriona McGirr and her family, that support became a lifeline when her son, Odhrán, was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. Throughout Odhrán's illness, the charity was there to provide comfort, practical help and support during the most difficult of times. Even after Odhrán's heartbreaking passing at just eight years old, that support has continued for the family. Their care does not end when treatment does.
Every year, families across Northern Ireland face the unimaginable reality of childhood cancer. The Children's Cancer Unit Charity helps ensure that children and their families receive vital support, helping them navigate challenges that no family should face alone. Their work makes a real difference, providing care, reassurance, and hope when it is needed most.
Supporting between 60-70 children and their families each year, the Children’s Cancer Unit Charity support specialist staff, provide much needed equipment, fund vital research into childhood cancer and provide support services to families to help them with the financial and emotional impact of a childhood cancer diagnosis.
That's why on Sunday 20th September Bank of Ireland staff will be abseiling 120ft down the Europa Hotel, raising much needed funds to support the incredible work of the Children’s Cancer Unit Charity.
By supporting this challenge you’ll help this special charity support even more families through the toughest journey.
Every donation, no matter the size, will be in Odhrán's memory and support families who need it most.”
