The Schomberg Society is delighted to be working in partnership with Kilkeel Primary School to produce a special drama to mark the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence.

This drama tells the story of the Ulster-Scots - their journey from Scotland to Ulster, onto America, and their contribution to the Declaration of Independence. It will also feature connections to Mourne during this period.

The drama has been written by Blue Eagle Productuons and will be performed by the P7 pupils of Kilkeel Primary School.

There will be a special showing of the drama, which will take place on ๐—ง๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฏ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐—๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฒ, commencing at 7pm in Kilkeel Primary School.

This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy this very special and unique celebration through drama, of the Declaration of Independence and the Ulster-Scots contribution to it.

Our Ulster-Scots Family Fun Day will take place from 11am - 2pm, with all babies and toddlers to meet at 11.30am for the judging of the competition! ๐Ÿคฉ

There will be two categories for our โ€˜Bonnie Bairnโ€™ Competitionโ€ฆ

This year marks the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, and to mark this important anniversary, the Schomberg Society is hosting a special 110th Battle of the Somme Eve Commemoration in Kilkeel.

The Schomberg Society is hosting an Ulster Panel Discussion as part of our Hairtlan Festival 2026.

The event will take place on ๐Œ๐จ๐ง๐๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—๐ญ๐ก ๐‰๐ฎ๐ง๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” at 7.30pm in the Auditorium in Kilkeel High School.

The Schomberg Society is introducing a new event for weans as part of our Hairtlan Festival 2026! ๐Ÿ™Œ

We are looking forward to hosting an ๐”๐ฅ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ-๐’๐œ๐จ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐–๐ž๐š๐ง๐ฌ ๐“๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž ๐‡๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ & ๐๐ข๐œ๐ง๐ข๐œ on Saturday 27th June 2026.

The event will take place from 11.30am - 1pm, and is for children P2 - P7.

The Ulster-Scots Treasure Hunt will leave from Tha Hairtlan Hub, Harbour Road, Kilkeel, where the children will be accompanied by leaders.

Following the Treasure Hunt, there will be a picnic provided at the Green area on Mourne Esplanade.

The weans are to be dropped off at Tha Hairtlan Hub for 11.30am and collected at 1pm at Mourne Esplanade.

During the picnic, the boys and girls will also learn about Ulster-Scots through fun activities! ๐ŸŽถ ๐ŸŽจ
