Cassie’s special day is on!
Newport’s Mari Lwyd “Cassie”will be visiting Newport on Saturday 10th January 2026. She is excited to announce that she will be accompanied once again by the Widders Border Morris dancers.
If you’d like to share in Cassie’s special day, she will be starting at the statue of WH Davies on Commercial Street at 2pm and proceeding to the top end of High Street by 3pm.
It is a free event and all are invited.
(Dressing up is encouraged)!

Cassie has come down from the mountain and is already in Newport! Where she is at the moment I’m not actually sure but I managed to spot her a few nights ago and instantly knew , I don’t quite understand how she does this, that she is willing to come and walk around Newport town centre at the appropriate time.
I’ve informed the Widders Border Morris Group so everything is now in place.
Cassie will be coming to Newport on Saturday 10th January 2026!

Cassie might need a little help, her number one supporter Smartie has a bad back so Cassie needs the help of a strong volunteer to help her on her walk through Newport on Saturday 10th January 2026.
Any volunteers? Fully training given.
The commitment is for one hour from 2pm until 3pm.
