Appetite Appetising arts events in Stoke-on-Trent! Come see what's

Appetite is an artistic programme that aims to get more people in Stoke-on-Trent and the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme to experience and be inspired by the arts. Appetite is funded by Arts Council England and is part of the Creative People and Places programme. The programme aims to build an appetite for the arts by putting on quality, accessible events in public spaces and placing people at the heart of what we do so they can take part and shape arts activity in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Appetite will engage local residents so they can get involved and influence more art in more places across the area. Appetite’s focus is to better understand what the people of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme really want from the arts and how best to serve it to them. An ambition of Appetite is to deliver some of the best quality and most exciting arts activities that the local, national and international arts industry can offer. The Appetite programme is funded through National Lottery by Arts Council England and is led by the New Vic Theatre in partnership with Partners in Creative Learning, 6Towns Radio, Staffordshire University, Newcastle Business Improvement District (BID), Go Kidsgrove and Keele University. Appetite also works closely with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Newcastle Borough Council, Staffordshire County Council and Aspire Housing.

🏆 WE WON! 🥳

We’re absolutely delighted to have won the High Street Impact Award at the University of Staffordshire Business Awards 2026! 💫

For more than 13 years, Appetite has been bringing people together through culture in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme - filling our streets and town centres with art, creativity, laughter and plenty of unexpected moments.

From The Big Feast and Light Up Winter to Newcastle Common and so much more, we’ve seen the brilliant things that can happen when culture takes over our high streets. ❤️

But while this award celebrates Appetite's impact on our high streets, we also want to celebrate the impact that communities have had on us. Appetite has always been shaped by the people and communities of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme - challenging us, inspiring us and making decisions alongside us.

To our brilliant team, Community Decision Makers, volunteers, artists, freelancers, consortium, funders, partners and supporters - and everyone who has turned up, joined in, shared an idea or simply enjoyed a bit of art in the street over the years...

Thank you - this award belongs to you too. ❤️

Stoke-on-Trent, you really brought The Big Feast to life! 🤩

What a day we had together on Friday - our city centre filled with brilliant performances, colour, laughter, creativity and thousands of moments of people stopping, watching, joining in and experiencing something unexpected.

While the weather ultimately changed our plans for Saturday, we’ve been so grateful for the kindness and understanding you showed us. Thank you. 💛

An event like The Big Feast is created by a lot of people, so here goes...

A huge thank you to our Big Feast partners Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID, Stoke-on-Trent City Council; Appetite programme funders, Arts Council England; our Lead Organisation New Vic Theatre; and Consortium Board Partners in Creative Learning (PiCL), 6 Towns Radio, University of Staffordshire, Arts Keele.

To the brilliant PH Production Services Ltd, as well as LongRest Boardgame Bar and Cafe, No22 Cafe & Regent Theatre and Victoria Hall - thank you for everything you did behind the scenes to help make it happen.

To all of the incredible artists, performers and communities who brought their creativity to the city – thank you for sharing your work with us.

To our wonderful venues – The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, Drop City Books, The Town Hall, Smithfield, Stoke & The Potteries Centre – thank you for being such brilliant hosts.

To our staff, freelancers, crew and amazing volunteers – thank you for your energy, care, flexibility and good humour, whatever the weather threw at us!

And to our Community Decision Makers – thank you for helping us shape a festival created with and for the people of Stoke-on-Trent.

Finally, the biggest thank you goes to YOU – our audiences. For turning up, joining in, trying something new and bringing the city centre to life with us.

We’re incredibly proud of what we created together 💫

Now we want to hear from you...

👉 What was your Big Feast highlight? Share your favourite moments in the comments – we’d love to hear them!
