Newbury 6-a-Side League Match Report – 18 May 2026
Premiership
The Premiership produced goals, drama, and a statement result as ONLY PUT MATIP IN delivered the performance of the night with a ruthless 9-1 demolition of YND FC. From the opening whistle, Matip’s men were relentless in attack, carving through the YND defence with quick passing and clinical finishing. YND FC struggled to contain the pressure and found themselves overwhelmed by wave after wave of attacks as ONLY PUT MATIP IN laid down a serious marker in the title race.
ASANTE KOTOKO S.C secured an impressive 3-1 victory over 5MOKE SQUAD in a fiercely contested clash. ASANTE KOTOKO showed composure in possession and took their chances at key moments, while 5MOKE SQUAD fought hard throughout but could not find the consistency needed to claw their way back into the game. The win keeps ASANTE KOTOKO firmly in the hunt near the top of the table.
In the evening’s final Premiership fixture, 2 GIRLS 1 SCHLUPP earned a deserved 4-2 win against CROUCH POTATOES. It was an entertaining encounter packed with attacking football from both sides, but 2 GIRLS 1 SCHLUPP proved sharper in front of goal and managed the game well in the closing stages to secure all three points.
Championship
The Championship opened with a tightly fought battle between BERKSHIRELONA and DYSLEXIA UNTIED, with the sides sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Neither team could fully take control in a match full of momentum swings, and both sides had chances to sn**ch a winner late on. In the end, a point apiece was probably a fair reflection of a competitive contest.
AFC NORTHCROFT produced one of the standout attacking displays of the evening as they stormed to a convincing 6-2 victory over THREE TUNS INSIDE HER. NORTHCROFT were clinical throughout, punishing defensive mistakes and moving the ball brilliantly in transition. THREE TUNS INSIDE HER showed flashes of quality but ultimately could not cope with the relentless attacking threat.
CURRIDGE SKINS continued their strong form with a solid 3-1 win over SAKA POTATOES. CURRIDGE SKINS controlled large periods of the match and looked dangerous every time they moved forward. SAKA POTATOES battled hard and managed to stay in contention for much of the game, but CURRIDGE SKINS always seemed to have another gear when needed.
League One
League One kicked off with RENFORD REJECTS claiming a comfortable 4-1 victory over MADELINE MILAN. RENFORD REJECTS looked organised from the outset and made the most of their opportunities in front of goal, while MADELINE MILAN struggled to recover after conceding early.
TEKKERSLOVAKIA and THE RUSSELL SPROUTZ played out a closely contested 1-1 draw in a game where chances were limited but the intensity remained high throughout. Both sides defended resolutely and neither could find the decisive breakthrough in the second half.
One of the most entertaining matches of the night saw LALLANAS IN PYJAMAS edge THATCHAM TOWN RESERVES 4-3 in a thrilling end-to-end encounter. The lead changed hands several times in a match packed with quality finishes and attacking intent. In the end, LALLANAS IN PYJAMAS held their nerve in the closing moments to secure a dramatic victory.
The final game of the evening delivered plenty of goals as PHEASANT PLUCKERS defeated HYPNOTISING SMOKE BOYS 6-3. PHEASANT PLUCKERS were in inspired form in attack, showing excellent movement and finishing throughout the match. HYPNOTISING SMOKE BOYS contributed to an entertaining spectacle but were unable to keep pace with their opponents’ firepower.
Result of the Night
ONLY PUT MATIP IN’s emphatic 9-1 victory over YND FC takes the honours for Result of the Night after a dominant display that sent a clear message to the rest of the Premiership.

THATCHAM TOWN RESERVES 3-4 LALLANAS IN PYJAMAS earns Match of the Night honours after a dramatic seven-goal thriller packed with twists, quality attacking football, and a tense finish.
