Next up for Newbury Jazz we have Becca Wilkins’ Reverie on Tuesday the 6th May 2025.

Becca Wilkins’ latest project Rêverie, is a collection of French Chanson reimagined with her trio of Olly Chalk (piano), Sam Ingvorsen (bass) and Billy Pod (drums).
Rêverie presents the classic French music made popular by Jacques Brel, Yves Montand and Edith Piaf through the lens of contemporary jazz as Becca brings her Francophilia into sharp focus. Featuring classics including ‘La Bohème’ and ‘La Mer’, this music remoulds some of the most well-loved French songs, as well as introducing audiences to some hidden gems from the genre. These songs provide a canvas for Becca's skills as a song interpreter and improviser, with a set that is both brooding and mysterious; vulnerable and atmospheric. Expect haunting ballads alongside runaway waltzes, interspersed by masterful extemporisation.
Rêverie is a chance to experience Becca’s ‘other worldliness’ (Jazzwise Magazine) in this heady collection of rhapsodic Franco-nostalgia.

Newbury Jazz returns to Arlington Arts on Tuesday the 4th February 2025! This time we are joined by Tom Ingvorsen and his band.

Newbury born and bred musician and composer Tom Ingvorsen started playing drums at the age of 9 which kickstarted a lifelong love of music, leading him to a career as a Jazz drummer/band leader after graduating from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2022. Tom also cites influences from a variety of other musical genres in his compositions including Rock and Folk, which has lead him to the contemporary Jazz style he has come to be known for.

Alex Western-King is an award-winning musician and one of the most sought after saxophone players on the London jazz scene. Described as “reaching deep into the core of jazz”, Alex is passionate about communicating through music and preserving the jazz tradition. Since graduating the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2017, Alex has performed extensively throughout the UK and Europe including playing sold out shows at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, Royal Albert Hall, Hideaway Jazz Club and many theatres around the country.
