GreenMatthews proudly present Midsummer Revels - songs, tunes and tales for sunny days!

Featuring traditional English folksongs, self-written material and toe-tapping dance tunes, Midsummer Revels is a glorious feel-good evocation of sunny days, blue skies and green fields.

Songs of land, sea, town and country are brought to life on a plethora of instruments such as English border bagpipes, mandocello and shawm, all underscored with trademark wit and humour.

We invite you to join us in the historic grounds of Shaw House to enjoy a healing sound bath with instructor Veronika. Appreciate the present moment with soothing sounds that will provide a grounding and relaxing afternoon.

This will be an outdoor event, lasting approximately 1.5hrs, so please bring with you a yoga mat and warm, comfortable clothes. Should there be poor weather conditions the class will be moved indoors.

There are currently two great volunteering opportunities available at Shaw House.

✨ We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help keep the historic Shaw House café running smoothly. By giving just a little of your time, you’ll help welcome visitors, serve refreshments, and make every visit memorable. If you enjoy meeting people and want to support a beautiful heritage site, we’d love you on the team.

✨ Build your knowledge of Shaw House’s rich history and help visitors explore this remarkable building as a Visitor Experience Volunteer. Start as a room steward, welcoming guests and sharing stories, with the chance to progress to leading guided tours as your confidence grows. It’s a brilliant way to develop skills, meet new people, and bring heritage to life.

Number 8!

As you explore Shaw House, there are features that you may miss – one being the light coming through the main staircase panelling. This is because the staircase, installed in the 1690s, was placed in front of a window that wasn’t filled in.

Come along to see beautiful jewellery, paintings, drawings, pottery, home ware and gorgeous glass designs. We are open from 11am until 4pm (last entry at 3.30pm).
