Everyone connected to the Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Paul Ducksbury. We will miss him dearly.

Not only was Paul a much-loved and respected committee member, who contributed so much to the Show and the wider farming community during many years of service, he was also a very good friend.

Paul's commitment, expertise and counsel helped the Show maintain its strong foundations, and his support as an exhibitor - bringing his unique vintage tractor and steam collection - was always a highlight for visitors, who could rely on him to bring something new and fascinating to Newark Showground each year.

We greatly appreciated Paul's warmth, enthusiasm and unwavering support, while his deep knowledge of the people and their exhibits was a significant benefit to each and every Show.

The vintage and heritage world will be poorer for his loss.

Our deepest condolences to Paul's family, our thoughts are with you.

🚨 First win at Newark for Fordson enthusiast James Wood and his Whitlock Dinkum Digger 🚨

After 15 years of exhibiting at the Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show, Lincolnshire-based collector James Wood finally struck gold, taking home the Best Fordson Derivative award with his 1960 Whitlock Dinkum Digger.

Built by Whitlock Brothers of Great Yeldham, Essex, the Dinkum Digger is one of the rarest Fordson conversions ever made.

With a Fordson Power Major engine, it was designed for heavy construction and drainage work, with a front-loading shovel and a rear excavator arm powered by a hydraulic system far ahead of its time.

“It weighs about five tonnes,” James said. “It’s got the Power Major engine, a Series 2, which is the same as the Super Major, and it still gets up in the morning ready to work.”

After years of bringing tractors to Newark without a prize, James admitted he was “blown away” by the win. He added: “It’s nice to be recognised after all these years – especially with something as rare and quirky as this.”

🚂 Salvaged Garrett steam engine shines at Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show 🚂

For Nottinghamshire engineer James Ragsdale, bringing the Garrett steam engine named Invincible back to life has been a true labour of love.

What began 15 years ago as little more than a discarded boiler earned him the top prize in the Steam Engine class at this year’s show.

When James first found the remains of the engine, it was far from a working machine

“All I bought was a boiler and the wheels,” he said. “Everything else had gone.”

The finished engine, which was polished to within an inch of its life for this year's show, earned its name Invincible because of its remarkable resurrection story.

“It was cut up and buried,” said James. “When we brought it back, the name just seemed to fit.”

3️⃣ Third time lucky for Massey collector with passion and patience 💪

Persistence paid off for Hampshire’s John Burdfield and his partner Sally Ennor, who took home a hat-trick of prizes at this year’s Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show.

It was their third time exhibiting at Newark, but the first win - a milestone that capped six years of hard work restoring an extraordinary fleet of Massey Ferguson tractors.

At the show, the judges singled out the couple’s 1964 Massey 65 Multipower Half Track as the best restored tractor, and a tandem Massey 35 from the same year.

With three lorry loads, John and Sally brought a total of 13 machines to the show for the weekend and were also rewarded with the best collection at the event.

“It’s nice to be recognised at a show like Newark,” said John. “The judges really know their stuff, and it means something when they appreciate what you’ve done.”

🏆 Scottish mechanic’s 14-year restoration wins Best John Deere in Show 🚜

After travelling more than 300 miles from East Kilbride, near Glasgow, mechanic and collector David Kerr was rewarded for his dedication when his painstakingly-restored John Deere 3120 took home the Best John Deere in Show award at this year’s Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show.

Fitted with a rare Sta-Dri cab, David's 3120 was rescued from a wreck in Ashford, Kent.

“It was parked up next to a gatehouse with ivy growing right over it,” he recalled. Registered in 1971, the tractor was in a sorry state when he found it in 2011, but its transformation into a show-stopper has been a labour of love that took 14 years to complete.

😮 Rare Irish-built Ford tractor draws attention at Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show ☘️

Among the many historic machines on display at this year’s show, few carried a story as remarkable as the Ford Model N exhibited by Retford enthusiast Nicholas Kitchen.

Nicholas’ tractor is one of the earliest examples of the Model N, which was produced between 1929 and 1931 by Henry Ford & Son at the company’s Cork plant in the Irish Free State.

Known as the 'Irish Long Wing', Nicholas’ tractor stands out for its distinctive extended rear mudguards, which incorporate toolboxes on both sides.

He has shown it at a number of events over the years, but Newark remains a highlight. “People don’t always realise how rare it is,” he said. “It’s the only one of its type here this weekend.”

🚜 Vintage Fordsons become apt winners a time of remembrance 🌺

On a weekend where those who lost their lives in conflict were remembered at the Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show, there was appropriate recognition for two Fordson exhibitors whose tractors date back to wartime Britain.

John Redfern won first prize for the best unrestored tractor at the show with his 1940s Fordson N, while a 1918-built Fordson F from Dan Bartle took the runner-up spot in the best tractor from pre-1930.

Their two entries were front and centre of the Ford and Fordson Association stand, which was visited by a huge Newark Showground crowd over the two days.

A regular exhibitor at the show, the Fordson N was purchased by John five years ago.

“It is as it was,” said John, “a bit of oil, a few seals, and it runs perfectly. I still take it out to do some light chain harrowing and rolling work.”

Dan’s 1918 Fordson F was a genuine import from America and has had a huge amount of luck to still be in one piece.

“It came across the boat, missed all the World War One submarine attacks, and landed fine,” he said.

🎬 ICYMI: Watch the show-stopping Caterpillar D10 in all its glory! 🚜

One of the biggest (literally) attractions at the Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show, this behemoth certainly turned heads and drew in the crowds.

Brought by Ascroft Transport on behalf of Catplant, the D10, at up to 77 tonnes, is one of the largest dozers in the company’s range, designed for quarrying and coal mining.
