A lovely day at Studio Moffat yesterday with Fungi Frida and the Myco Heroes and The Bush as part of Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival.

Fabulous fungi, delightful puppets, compelling storytelling, protest, environmental action and some absolutely wonderful performances.

Huge thanks to the performers and DG Arts Festival for bringing both shows to Moffat.

Tonight at Studio Moffat.

The Bush tells the remarkable true story of thirteen women who fought to stop a piece of local bushland being destroyed in 1970s Australia — brought to life by storyteller Alice Mary Cooper in a funny, inventive and deeply human solo performance.

Part of Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival.

Today at Studio Moffat: mushrooms, puppets, songs, games and fungal superheroes.

Fungi Frida and the Myco Heroes follows Frida as she travels through the Wood Wide Web searching for the perfect mushroom ally to help clean up Plasticland — meeting mind-controlling cordyceps, healing fungi, ink-making mushrooms and some very unusual characters along the way.

An energetic, silly, interactive performance full of clowning, puppetry and music for children up to age 12 and their families.

Tonight at Studio Moffat.

Kiss the Ground turned out to be as beautiful a film as we hoped — thoughtful, grounded and full of people trying to rebuild their relationship with the land in practical ways.

Also: Belties ❤

Tea, coffee and home baking afterwards as usual, along with time to sit and talk together.

We’ve just finished the test screening of Kiss the Ground ahead of tomorrow's screening at Studio Moffat and it’s such a beautiful and hopeful film — and there are Belties! (One thing we’ve discovered with farming films from anywhere in the world is that you can usually spot a Beltie or two.)

Yes, the film’s about regenerative agriculture and soil health — but underneath that it’s really asking bigger questions about how we live, what we value, and what kind of future we want to help grow.

It definitely made us wonder what we can do to rebuild a little piece of paradise every day of our lives from now on — which seems like a good thing for us all to talk about after the screening.

Tea, coffee and home baking afterwards, along with great craic. We’d love to see you there. Book in advance or pay on the door.

There’s something reassuring about sitting in a room with other people and watching a film that asks practical questions about the future.

This Friday we’re screening Kiss the Ground at Studio Moffat — a documentary exploring regenerative agriculture, soil health and the growing movement around rebuilding living ecosystems.

It’s not really a 'save the planet' film. It’s farmers, scientists and land workers talking seriously about land, food, resilience and what happens when soil is treated as something alive.

Tea, coffee and home baking afterwards as usual.

One week from today, Studio Moffat will be transformed by fungi, protest, storytelling and theatre - and we can't wait!

As part of Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival, we’re hosting two very different — and very special — performances on Sunday 24 May.

In the afternoon, Fungi Frida and the Myco Heroes invites children (age range 0 to 12) and grown-ups alike into a strange and magical underground world of mushrooms, mycelium and imagination. You may find yourself suddenly looking for an excuse to bring the children along.

Then in the evening, The Bush tells the remarkable true story of thirteen women in 1970s Australia who fought to save a local bushland — helping spark an environmental movement that spread around the world. Funny, inventive and deeply human. Recommended age - 12 to 102!

Two beautiful, thoughtful shows. Studio Moffat is so excited to be helping to bring them to Moffat.

Check out Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival website for tickets!
