In 2019, Twisterella won an AIF Independent Festival Award for its ‘forward thinking bookings‘, reflecting the event’s track record in showcasing the brightest emerging national and international talent, as well as giving a platform to a select number of local and regional acts who are ready to make the step up to the big stage. In addition to the Independent Festival Award, Twisterella co-promoters Pay For The Piano and The Kids Are Solid Gold are regular nominees in the ‘Indie Promoter Of The Year (Local Impact)‘ category in Live UK’s annual Live Music Business Awards. Furthermore, TKASG’s Andy Carr was nominated for the prestigious Indie Champion Award in the AIM Awards 2017 and PFTP’s Henry Carden won a BBC Introducing Local Hero Award at the AIM Awards in 2022. We are absolutely buzzing to announce that Twisterella is back on Saturday 3rd October 2026! We can't wait for you to discover your new favourite band in the heart of Middlesbrough.

Early bird tickets are on-sale now and the first wave of artists will be announced in early April.

Our town has faced more than its fair share of challenges when it comes to music venues since we launched back in 2014.

With every passing year, it feels like we have to go back to the drawing board to put together an event that keeps the spirit of the Westgarth alive and continues to provide discerning music fans with a day of discovery.

Last year's Twisterella was a bit different in terms of the footprint and sitemap, but the feedback we got was overwhelmingly positive and as always, it's the music that matters. And the music was probably the strongest it's ever been 👊

There's a reason Middlesbrough is on the longlist for the UK City of Culture 2029: We're creative. We're innovative. We're resilient. We're ambitious. We're the fu**in' Boro.

We'll see you on Saturday 3rd October for another mint day. We can't wait. The line-up is already full to the brim with some of the most exciting emerging acts around. You're in for a treat.

FAO MUSICIANS! Come and have a cuppa with some wonderful people who can help you get the knowledge, advice and guidance your music deserves.

It’s not a conference. It’s an unconference. There’s no hierarchy here. We’re all on the same level. Literally: really relaxed chats, sat around on sofas and chairs.

With the taking place up the road next week, you’ll even get chance to chat to some people who’ve been involved in Mercury award nominated - and even winning - campaigns.

This is your chance to ask those questions you’ve always wanted to ask; and your chance to get your music heard by industry professionals!

Entry is free*, just rock up to between 10:30am and 11am tomorrow morning. All finished in time to head to to the festival 👊
