🐮 BEEF EXPO 2026 🐮

Our site was filled with stalls ranging from cakes and dog treats to big agriculture brands and livestock companies.

2026 held a strong focus on food security, innovation and the future of domestic beef production. The event attracted visitors from across the country for a packed day of cattle competitions, trade exhibits, seminars and industry discussion 🚜

The 2026 National Commercial Cattle Show showcased the best of British commercial beef genetics, with the competition culminating in the Supreme Championship title, sponsored by Livestock Auctioneers Association, being awarded to TA & LC Lyon & Son from Thurlby, Lincolnshire, with Suzie, a March 2025-born British Blue cross heifer, while Reserve Supreme Champion went to Messrs Ludgate with Limousin heifer, Sugar T**s.

We are delighted to have inspired Rutland-based artist Stephanie Ball's upcoming exhibition here at The Stockyard next Tuesday 9th June. Displayed all day alongside our market from 8am until 1pm.

Tuesday is an installation by Rutland-based artist Stephanie Ball. This series of images form part of a body of artwork made during an ongoing research project based on the Stockyard site. Ball is an artist interested specifically in sculpture; considering where it can be situated in the world, what materials can be used and what can be considered valuable as art.

Created over several months of visits, this project aims to celebrate the specific culture, including the wonderful people, and the sense of heritage to be found when spending a Tuesday morning on the Stockyard site.

The Tuesday market in Melton Mowbray is the largest town centre market in the country and has roots predating the Domesday Book, gaining a Royal Charter in 1324. The market has been at the current site since 1869.

Stephanie Ball is a current student on the De Montfort University MA Contemporary Art Practice programme. She holds a BA in Fine Art from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London.
