Our Matlock UK Town of Culture Bid - we need your help!

What makes you think of Matlock? Do you have any photos, drawings or words that show Matlock’s varied arts and culture?

As part of our bid to be the UK’s first town of culture we have been asked to create a postcard to show the diversity of arts and culture in our town.

Can you help?

Please share

- any photos of Matlock that shows our uniqueness and culture

- any artwork or photos of cultural and arts activities in Matlock… plays, bands, drawing, sport, community groups etc

- any ideas of your own for what she’s old be on our postcode

The Department of Culture Media and Sport have given us a tight deadline so please send anything to via instagram or email [email protected] by Wednesday 17th at 5pm

We’d also like to include a short 100 word poem about Matlock… any budding poets out there?

We’re thinking of applying to be the UK’s first Town of Culture! This would be an epic opportunity for the town with funding to bring arts, music, dance, drama and a lasting cultural legacy to our beautiful town.

With no cinema, theatre, youth club or major arts venue we think we could be perfect! We want to hear from YOU though.

We’re a small group of residents, the Town Council and small businesses who have come together to put together an application.
