We apologise for the delay in providing an update on this situation, our liquidator has now provided the following advice for anyone with unused gift vouchers or unfulfilled axe-throwing sessions:
Assuming people have bought vouchers to redeem at future events after Group ceased trading on 30 September 2024, they unfortunately can’t receive refunds on them now. They will be able to make an unsecured claim against Black Axe Group Limited via the Liquidator after 19 November but it is highly unlikely they will receive their money back.
If they purchased a voucher by credit card, they should go back to their credit card provider and see if they can get a refund under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 for non-delivery of a service (i.e. not being able to use the voucher). It is usually only applicable to a minimum spend of £100 (up to £30,000!) but most card providers are helpful if you explain the position.
If they bought a voucher using a debit card, there’s no right of refund, but often their bank will help with a goodwill gesture in the same way as a credit card provider.
PLEASE NOTE; Anyone who has been in touch with us will automatically have their details passed onto the liquidator.
We are incredibly sorry to everyone we have let down and have done everything possible to avoid this situation. After six years of trading and trying everything we can to survive, we are absolutely gutted to be closed.
