Doc’n Roll Film Festival Manchester.

The best alternative Music Documentary screenings across Manchester.

The five-day festival kicked-off on 29 May at Gullivers with a free launch event featuring a hand-picked selection of great short music docs, before starting our residency at Home cinema from 30 May to 2 June, screening six acclaimed feature-length #documentaries.

We met Chilly Gonzales' mischievous world of #piano and provocation; saw the ground-breaking #reggae and #ska record label Trojan coming to life in a beautifully filmed, award-winning docudrama; heard true-life tales from the fearless heroines of #punk and #indie #rock; took a spiritual journey into the world of #kirtan, went behind the scenes with #metal legends Sepultura, and travelled to Detroit to feel the beat of the city of that gave us #techno.

Special events around the screenings included a Q&A with Rudeboy director Nicholas Jack Davies and Manchester reggae stalwart Mega Dread Cohen, an afterparty at Joshua Brooks hosted by Postive Vibration; a post-screening kirtan session with Satya Music following the showing of Mantra; and a screen talk with Stories from The She Punks co-directors Gina Birch and Helen Reddington, followed by a free afterparty at the HOME cinema bar.
