Manchester United have seen a number of players
make big impressions following the end of their
disappointing Old Trafford spells.
Manchester United have had some of the game's greatest ever
players play for them down the years, but not all of their
signings have shone at the Theatre of Dreams.
With that in mind, HITC Sport has taken a look back at nine
players who endured underwhelming spells with the Reds
Devils before succeeding following their departures...
Juan Sebastian Veron
After a difficult spell at Manchester United, Juan Sebastian Veron
endured an even tougher time at Chelsea. His loan spells at
Inter Milan however, reaped one league title and two Coppa
Italias. He would also be named Argentine Player of the Year
twice following his Old Trafford exit.

Radamel Falcao
Radamel Falcao
Radamel Falcao's disappointing loan spell at United suggested
that a once-lethal striker was experiencing a rapid decline with
just four goals coming in his season with the club. However,
with Monaco, he has scored 30 times in 43 games this past
season to help them win the Ligue 1 title.
Diego Forlan
Diego Forlan may enjoy something like cult-hero status with
Manchester United fans, but there is no question that barring a
brace against Liverpool, his spell with the side provided few
highlights. He left the club in 2004 having scored 17 in 98
games for the Red Devils. Across the following seven seasons,
he would score 128 La Liga goals and would finish the 2010
World Cup as the tournament's top goalscorer, also
contributing the goal of the competition.
Wilfried Zaha
One of Sir Alex Ferguson's last acts as manager was to sign
Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace. Unfortunately, it was David
Moyes who was in the dugout by the time the winger started
playing for United. The wide-man never settled at Old Trafford
and was soon back at Palace, where he has looked to be one of
the Premier League's best wingers this past season.

Shinji Kagawa
Like Zaha, Shinji Kagawa returned to his former club after a
fairly brief and underwhelming spell with United. He is now
back playing at Borussia Dortmund and looks to be getting
back to being the player United signed in the first place.

Angel Di Maria
Angel Di Maria started his spell with Manchester United
extremely well, scoring a stunning goal in a defeat to Leicester.
However, he failed to sustain the form and was allowed to join
Paris Saint-Germain one year later. In his first season in France,
he scored 10 league goals and contributed a staggering 18
assists. In fairness, he did contribute 10 Premier League assists
in just 27 games for United.
Paul Pogba
Paul Pogba
While United appear to have rectified their mistake of letting
Paul Pogba go by bringing him back, they may never live
down the fact that they spent £89 million on him four years
after letting him join Juventus for nothing (via Sky Sports). He
was a key part of the Old Lady side that won four Serie A titles,
two Coppa Italias and reached a Champions League final.
Giuseppe Rossi
After just 14 appearances for United, Giuseppe Rossi was
allowed to join Villarreal where he went on to score 82 goals in
192 games. Unfortunately, injuries have blighted his career
since.
Gerard Pique

in leaving; Premier League rival considering move
Like Rossi, Gerard Pique would make just a handful of
appearances for United before finding success in La Liga. He
would win the Champions League with United, but has since
gone on to win six titles with Barcelona, five Copa Del Reys and
three more Champions League crowns, as well as the World
Cup and Euro 2012 with Spain.
