We get to see the difference 'The Nicky' as it affectionately known, makes to people every day. Always happy faces, great memories and utter enjoyment from the people that they serve. The Team at the Nicky led by David Delew and Karen Grant are fabulous. Please support them if you can, it is such a great resource for our community.

The Nicky is the best social club in Manchester for the more mature members of the Jewish community and those needing a little extra support.

We provide a lifeline for our members and do so much to eliminate loneliness, offering daily activities, fantastic 3-course kosher lunch and live entertainment. Huge increases in costs mean we are running a £20k deficit each month as we heavily subsidise every member visit. We need your help and support to continue offering this valuable and indispensable service.

𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 ‘𝗴𝗼 𝗼𝗹𝗱-𝗳𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱’!

We want you to send in messages - in the form of postcards, letters or pictures - to help keep up the spirits of people who are cut off from normal social contact due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Raphi Bloom, explained,

“We’ve had to take the precaution of closing Heathlands Village’s doors to visitors to reduce the risk as much as possible of any of our residents contracting the virus.

“Meanwhile, we are continuing to provide support to vulnerable people in the community, many of whom are already socially isolated, and now affected by the temporary closure of Fed community groups plus other cautionary measures being advised to the general population Public Health England.

“Many of those affected are older people without access to smart phones, iPad and so on. They can’t keep in touch via email or FaceTime in the same way as the digital generations.

“To care for our community, we felt it was vital to put something in place to counter the awful isolation some will be feeling. So, we’re asking people to go back to good old-fashioned methods of communication and send in cheerful, uplifting messages on paper which we will deliver to our residents and those in the community who are cut off.

“We’re expecting this will capture the imaginations of a lot of younger community members, but we’d be delighted to receive messages from people of all ages.”

The venture is being supported by both Manchester Maccabi and The BIG Birthday Appeal.
