One Mic Stand: Judge Announced - Khadijah Ibrahiim
Khadijah Ibrahiim will be one of our judges alongside other industry judges as a part of our BBC Contains Strong Language partnership. A multi-disciplinary artist, poet and literary activist, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and holds an Honorary Doctor of Letters, her work bridges the intersection of page and stage through a distinctive African Caribbean diasporic futurist lens. Hailed as one of Yorkshire’s most prolific poets by the BBC.

Her collections, ‘Rootz Runnin’’ and ‘Another Crossing,’ published by Peepal Tree Press, explore themes of heritage, migration and imagined futures through black British lyricism. She has been a writer-in-residence for El Gouna Writes Egypt, Verbalised South Africa, First Story and Africa Week at Leeds University. In addition to mentoring and workshops, she delivers keynote speeches, lectures, and performs regularly on both UK and international stages. Her work appears in university journals and poetry anthologies.
The creator of ‘Dead n Wake’, the ‘Sound System Symposium,’ and ‘My Body is a Protest' live arts installation, she has exhibited and curated projects with libraries, galleries, museums and written for the Royal Ballet and Opera House as the librettist for ‘Sing, Dance, Leap,’ a production celebrating Bradford 2025: UK City of Culture.
