We would like to wish all our followers a very happy new year! We are delighted to report that our roaming Shaun the Sheep sculpture from last year’s trail: ‘Olympics in Motion’ has found his new home for 2025 at The Hundred of Hoo Academy

Compare and Recycle , who won the sculpture at auction last year have generously donated Olympic who will be moved between both the secondary and the primary school for all students, teachers and visitors to enjoy.

Thank you to Compare and Recycle, Hundred of Hoo school and Bauvill who helped put the sculpture in place!

We are delighted to announce that we are re-auctioning Sheep-nanigans by Ralph Steadman, one of the amazing sculptures from the Shaun the Sheep in the Heart of Kent art trail.

The money raised from the auction will be added to the total already reached from the charity auction in September which raised an incredible £265,250 from auctioning all the wonderful Shaun the Sheep Sculptures.

The auction will be open to sealed bids until midnight on Thursday 5 December 2024.

This is a one-off opportunity to own Sheep-nanigans who was designed by artist Sadie Williams, realised by Hope Kinnersley and hand finished by Ralph Steadman.

As the colourful Shaun the Sheep Sculptures make their way to their new homes after helping raise an incredible £265,250 when they were auctioned off, we can now reveal the results of a survey which show the positive impact the art trail had on visitors, the Maidstone community and the town’s economy.

Feedback from members of the public who downloaded the App, and visitors who completed the survey on the Trail website are phenomenal. Not only was ‘Shaun the Sheep in the Heart of Kent’ a huge success in providing a free fun way for families to enjoy Maidstone and its attractions over the summer but it also helped raise awareness and vital funds for the Hospice.

The recent post trail survey commissioned by Wild in Art shows that the trail was enjoyed by 217,859 visitors – with 84% spending more time in Maidstone because of the trail.

The 9 week long art trail had a total economic impact of just over £6.8 million which contributed £2.07 million of Gross Value Added (GVA) to the local economy.

Over the summer we have seen a phenomenal response to our Shaun in the Heart of Kent trail. The culmination of our trail was the auction, in which all our large sculptures and a few surprise lots went under the hammer. We are thrilled to announce that we raised a staggering £265,250! We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in this incredible trail.
