It’s beginning to look a lot like ….!! The Alternative Christmas Tree Festival begins its second year at 10.30am today in St Michael & All Angels, Lyndhurst. Twenty-six trees are on display, and some are very alternative demonstrating ingenuity, a desire not to cut down growing trees and express new ways of celebrating Christmas by young and old. Messy Crafts contrast with Lyndhurst U3A, the 1st Lyndhurst Cubs with Lyndhurst Bowling Club, and Mickey’s After School Club with Slimming World. As well as societies this year’s festival includes many local businesses taking part for the first time. Organised by the Parish of Lyndhurst and Emery Down and Minstead (The New Forest Parish) the festival will raise money for Lyndhurst Food Bank, Minstead Trust, The Friends of Lyndhurst Surgery (FOLS) and The Honeypot Children’s Charity. The three parish churches – St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Lyndhurst, Christ Church, Emery Down and All Saints' Church, Minstead – nominated the charities and FOLS which ran a Christmas Tree Festival for many years is the fourth charity to benefit. The festival runs until 3pm on Sunday 14 December.
