Just a reminder that tomorrow, 𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟔 𝐌𝐚𝐲, at Gracehall, Katy McMonagle of the Northern Archaeological Consultancy Ltd will be revealing the results of the community archaeological dig held at Kilmocholmóg last summer, which was kindly funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players.
Last summer, over 450 volunteers and schoolchildren braved the elements to dig, trowel, sketch, and desod alongside experts from the Northern Archaeological Consultancy to help excavate the medieval site of Kilmocholmóg, located just off the Kilmore Road, Lurgan, as we looked for the remains of an early medieval church which is said to have stood here over 1000 years ago!
As it turned out the excavation revealed much, much more than we expected! Come along to Gracehall and find out all!
The event will start at 𝟕.𝟑𝟎𝐩𝐦.
𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡: The evening will also feature the official launch of a commemorative booklet detailing the story of the Kilmocholmóg digs.
