Nicholsons Solicitors Lowestoft Half Marathon

Whilst there is unfortunately no Nicholsons Solicitors Lowestoft Half Marathon this year, it doesn't mean that the local running communities aren't still out doing their thing!

50 local runners are coming together to run 874 miles (the distance from Lands End to John O’ Groats) between them, by each doing a 17 mile stint on the weekend of 16th/17th May.

All of the money raised will be donated to James Paget hospital and we wish them all the best of luck.

To all of our runners, sponsors, and supporters,

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have decided not to go ahead with this year's Half Marathon (due to take place on Sunday 4 October 2020).

The Nicholsons Solicitors Lowestoft Half Marathon team remain committed on a long-term basis to delivering an annual Half Marathon event for the town of Lowestoft to be proud of, and plans are already underway to bring the event back bigger and better than ever in October 2021.

Those with a deferred space from the 2019 race will remain able to take up that space in 2021's race if they so wish.

We understand some of you will be disappointed that there is no race this year, but the decision has been taken for the benefit of the event's long-term future. Please continue to follow us on Facebook for further updates as and when they are available.

Further to our post yesterday, we have spoken to UKA this morning who have confirmed the following:

"We will still process and upload the results to the Powerof10 and runbritainrankings sites but they will be given an event code of "SHORTHM" which means that although performances will appear on athletes profiles they will not be eligible for PB's or official rankings. The performances will still count towards runners handicap scores on the runbritainrankings site though as the calculations involved with this will take into account at discrepancies in the actual course distance."

We appreciate some runners may be disappointed with the outcome but we hope everyone can understand that the weather conditions were incredibly exceptional on the day of the Race and that due to the exact location of the issue, there was no alternative route available at such short notice.

Thanks to everyone for their comments, support and feedback from this year's Race. We are already taking these into consideration to make sure next year's event is even bigger and better!
