With the race coming up this Sunday, please see below for final instructions to runners:
PARKING – If you are travelling please use the Event Field for parking which is situated in Wilsthrope Road and will be clearly sign posted as the West Park Leisure Centre main car park will have a limited amount of space available.
• RACE NUMBERS – Race numbers will be available for collection from 8:30am in the Main Hall at West Park Leisure Centre, Wilsthrope Road.
Numbers will be arranged numerically according to the Participant number shown on you SiEntries Confirmation which please have with you when collecting your number.
• ENTRIES ON THE DAY – If you are thinking of entering our race on the day entries are available for both the 5 mile race and the 2 mile fun run at a cost of £10 Attached / £12 Unattached and £2 for the Fun Run
• RACE START TIME – The 2 mile Fun Run starts at 9:20am and the 5 mile race starts at 10am. The start line is about 4 minutes away near the Rugby Club.
• THE COURSE – The race starts and finishes on grass and is held on park paths plus roads around West Park. It is clearly marked and well marshalled.
• WATER STATION - There will be a water station at halfway.
• PLEASE KEEP MOVING ALONG THE FINISHING FUNNEL – Once you cross the finish line, please keep moving along the funnel, to avoid any ‘backing-up’ across the finish line. Your Goodie Bag will contain both your medal and water plus one or two other goodies. Please ensure only one bag is taken to avoid later finishers being disappointment should we run out.
• NO HEADPHONES – Following recent changes to Road Race rules the use of headphones is banned and will result in disqualification. This is for your safety as it is imperative you are able to hear marshals’ instructions and as you will be running on open roads and cycle paths.
• PRESENTATIONS – Presentations will take place in West Park Leisure Centre Main Hall at approximately 11:30am. Awards are as follows with only one award permitted for each winner other than the 1st to 5K cash prizes.
1st three Males plus 1st Vet in following categories v40 / v45 / v50 / v55 / v60 / v65+
1st three Females plus 1st Vet in following categories v35 / v40 / v45 / v50 / v 55 / v60+
1st Male Team (4 runners) and 1st Female Team (3 runners)
• SPOT PRIZES – Six £10 Gift Vouchers will be given out as Spot Prizes courtesy of The Derby Runner who will also have a stand in the Leisure Centre Main Hall with many special deals on shoes, clothing and accessories.
• CHARITY STALL – LERC have a table in the Leisure Centre Main Hall selling homemade cakes the proceeds of which will go to a nominated charity.
• REFRESHMENTS – Vending Machines are available in the Leisure Centre Reception area. The Long Eaton Rugby Club will be open for refreshments from 9am and West Perk Café in the Park will be open from 10am
• TOILETS – Available in the Leisure Centre and also in West Park near the West Perk Café plus Long Eaton Rugby Club from 9am.
• CHANGING FACILITIES – Available in the Leisure Centre, and Long Eaton Rugby Club will be available from 9am.
