🎌Japan Matsuri: Performance Announcement!🎌

The Japan Association was founded in November 1996 with the aim of providing support to the Japanese community in the UK and to promote the Anglo-Japanese relationship. Their performance at Japan Matsuri is called Awa odori, a traditional folk dance done at Tokushima prefecture's most famous festival in August. Members of the Japan Association will perform this dance with traditional Japanese singers and musicians, who play Wadaiko (Japanese drums) and Shamisen (a three-stringed traditional Japanese musical instrument).

As the song for this dance goes ‘踊る阿呆に、見る阿呆、同じ阿呆なら、踊らな損、損 (The dancers are fools, and the watchers are fools. If both are fools, why not dance?)’, we will be delighted for as many people as possible to join us for the dance on the day.
