What does a confident, large scale return to live events actually look like in practice?

Sunbelt Rentals recently hosted their National Conference and Innovation Expo at Liverpool Experience Campus, bringing together 600 colleagues on day one and more than 1,000 customers and industry partners on day two.

Centred around technology, sustainability, customer experience and people, the two day event was a showcase of what live can deliver when it's done with real ambition.

We've got the full story on our site.

June 24th is getting closer, have you signed up for our US Trailblazers session yet? 👀

We've had a brilliant response so far, and there's still time to join us for what's going to be a really valuable conversation.

But this one is a little different. Rather than a talk or panel, this is a focus group. We want to hear from you, ahead of our in-person October event.

We'll be joined by Ele Mather, Senior Event Strategist at Input Output and the driving force behind Trailblazers in the UK, who will share how the programme came to life and why she's passionate about creating real spaces for growth in the events industry.

Together, we'll explore what a US version of Trailblazers could look like, and your perspective will help shape it.

This is the beginning of something exciting, and we'd love to build it with you.

The room empties. The event ends. And then... nothing.

It's one of the biggest missed opportunities in corporate events, and it came up again and again at a recent International Corporate Events Network Leadership Supper supported by DRPG.

The insight that stuck with us: events should act as a catalyst, not a conclusion. The most impactful ones sit within a broader engagement strategy, with structured follow-up, clear data frameworks, and a team mandate that extends beyond the day itself.

We've written up the full conversation, including what the industry's best are doing differently.

What an evening at the 🏛️

Last night’s Trailblazers event was everything we love about this community, open conversation, genuine connection, and real inspiration from the people in the room.

A huge thank you to our incredible speaker David Kolundzija, whose insights set the tone for a brilliant discussion. And to our wonderful interviewer Connie Arnold for drawing out the best of that conversation.

We’re also incredibly grateful to Maria Bataheiro and Jescel Lomboy at the Corinthia for making us feel so welcome and for hosting us in such a stunning setting.

If you weren’t able to join us this time, our next event will be announced very soon, keep an eye out. All gatherings are free to attend for in-house corporate event creators.

Events are one of the most powerful tools in B2B marketing. So why are we still struggling to prove their value in the boardroom?

Broadsword brought together event and marketing leaders at Shoreditch House earlier this year to tackle exactly that, and the conversation around trust, mental availability, and long term engagement is one every in-house event professional should hear.

Too often, event professionals are still seen as organisers, coordinators or “helpers” rather than strategic partners within the business.

At the ICEN UK Conference on 9 July in London, Shakira Browne, Senior Events Project Manager at SS&C Technologies, will lead a campfire session exploring how event managers can begin to change that perception.

“I’m not a regular events manager… I’m a strategic events manager” is a practical and honest discussion around influence, visibility and strategic credibility inside organisations.

Together, this campfire will explore how to communicate more effectively with stakeholders, set clearer boundaries, use data to support decisions and make the impact of events more visible to leadership teams.

Most importantly, this won’t just be theory. Attendees will leave with practical ideas and approaches they can apply immediately within their own roles.

Campfires are one of the most valued parts at ICEN Conference. Small group discussions designed for open conversation, shared experiences and practical learning with others facing similar challenges.

How do you design internal events that create action afterwards, not just applause on the day?

At the ICEN UK Conference in London on 9 July, Adam Po***ck, Head of Digital Innovation at ScottishPower, will lead a campfire session exploring exactly that.

Using ScottishPower’s Digital Summit as a real-world example, Adam will open up discussion around how in-house teams can create events that genuinely build capability, influence culture and drive meaningful action long after the event ends.

The conversation will explore topics including experience design, leadership engagement, hybrid choices, measurement and proving impact.

Campfires are one of the most valued parts of ICEN. These are small-group, interactive discussions designed for practical learning, honest conversations and sharing real experiences with others facing similar challenges.

No presentations. No selling. Just open discussion and practical insight from people doing the job.

We’ve all heard it… “just the event team.” But that’s not the reality. And it’s time to change it.

We’re really excited to announce our keynote speaker, Joanna Lawlor, Strategic Global Congress Director at AstraZeneca at the ICEN Conference & Awards on 9 July in London.

In her session, ‘Event Bunny’ No More: The Shift from Ex*****on to Strategic Influence’, Joanna explores why live events are becoming one of the last places where trust can be built in real time, and what that means for event leaders.

Drawing on the Trust Equation and her experience managing £1m+ budgets while being underestimated, this session is a powerful reminder that our role goes far beyond delivery. It’s about influence, credibility and shaping decisions that matter.

A session that challenges how our role is seen and where it’s going. Not one to miss.
