Since the doors opened in 1979, this unique venue has been entertaining children with resonant, engaging and exciting theatre. Over 100,000 children a year come to Polka and are inspired, stimulated and engaged by theatre, often for the first time. Polka strives to stir the emotions, spark the imagination and, most of all, entertain. Its two theatre spaces, the Main Theatre and the Adventure Theat

re are designed especially for children so that their first taste of theatre is welcoming and relevant. Opening Times:

Tuesday – Friday: 9am – 5pm
Saturday – Sunday: 9:30am – 5pm (excluding Bank Holidays)

The building is closed on Mondays. Box Office Opening times:
Tues-Fri – 9am – 5pm
Sat-Sun – 10am – 4.30pm

Huge congratulations to Sarah Middleton for taking home the award for TYA (writing/devising) 👏👏

And shout out to our friends at Touring Opera for their win of TYA Music for The Vanishing Forest at Polka last May, and Hopeful Monsters who won TYA Production (coming to Big Dreams this Summer!).

Dweeb-A-Mania was the winner of the 2024 Polka Playwriting Award. Applications for 2026 close on 19 July.
