Tomorrow! June 5th at I K L E C T I K Stephen O'Malley ( Sunn O))) ) + Dawn Terry - Drones

Last tickets on sale now via Dice

Stephen O’Malley is a guitarist, producer, composer, and visual artist who has conceptualized and participated in numerous drone and experimental music groups for over two decades – SUNN O))) , KTL, and Khanate being among his best-known creations. Wildly prolific, O’Malley’s oeuvre is defined by its remarkable breadth, complexity and multidisciplinary interests. It includes collaborations with a wide range of experimental artists, including Scott Walker, Kali Malone, Alvin Lucier, choreographer Gisèle Vienne, the authors Dennis Cooper and Alan Moore, Peter Rehberg, Fujiko Nakaya, Jim Jarmusch, Johan Johansson, experimental music research centers IRCAM, INA-GRM (Paris), EMS (Stockholm) and many others. O’Malley is also a vigorous live performer and has toured around the world since 2000. His live performances feature a reverberating fog of electric guitar minimalism – sorcery that challenges boundaries of space and time.

Dawn Terry produces work that is heavy, dreamlike, open and hypnotic both solo and in her band B**g II. In her recent music Dawn has turned towards acoustic resonances provided by accordion, hurdy-gurdy, and voice. Both cleaner and denser than ever before, Dawn is now producing large scale minimalist landscapes characterised by an austere openness, barely punctured by hypnotic drumming or slowly intoned vocals and stories of survival and vengeance.

The trio's new album is out now on International Anthem

Finding equilibrium in an ever evolving practice of improvisation and collective composition, the trio of Whitney Johnson, Lia Kohl, and Macie Stewart traverse a new sonic space in the spirit of play and intuitive experimentation. Three voices and three string instruments – viola, cello, and violin, respectively – create an organic, intertwined sound that can be both singular and astonishingly multitudinous. The trio work in a unique combination of completely free improvisation and careful production, using multiple tape machines and effects to re-imagine improvised material into meticulously crafted compositions.

NEW SHOW: November 21st Pan Amsterdam Music at The Jazz Cafe

Co-Presented with The Jazz Cafe, Tickets on sale now via Dice

Trumpeter, rapper and sonic wanderer Pan Amsterdam has carved out one of the most distinctive voices operating at the intersection of jazz and hip-hop today.

Pan Amsterdam is a musical enigma wrapped in an enduring riddle. His creator is a jazz musician from Houston who’s found fame working with Detroit punk rock God, Iggy Pop, and British indie royalty, Metronomy, and now makes shapeshifting, adventurous hip hop out of the music’s spiritual home, New York.

He’s an irreverent character born out of frustration and named after a misunderstanding, yet one who’s on the verge of releasing his fifth album of truth-slaying, genre-crossing rhymes and beats. The result is a catalogue that feels both deeply rooted in Black American musical tradition and completely untethered by convention.

Foundational math rock / post-metal / jazz-core band Dazzling Killmen have announced they have re-formed and will be performing live again starting in September of 2025.

Founding members, vocalist/guitarist Nick Sakes and drummer Blake Fleming will be playing together for the first time since disbanding 30 years ago. The two will be joined by bassist Evan Jagels and guitarist Ben Greenberg of the band Uniform.

Dazzling Killmen formed in the St. Louis area in 1990 and was composed of vocalist/guitarist Nick Sakes and jazz students – drummer Blake Fleming and bassist Darin Gray. The group issued four singles, a live cassette and two full-lengths before officially ending in 1995, with a majority of it released through the independent label SKiN GRAFT Records. Guitarist Tim Garrigan later joined the band after guesting on their “Medicine Me” single. The group would break up in the fall of 1995, prior to a planned tour of Japan with Jim O’Rourke, Melt-Banana, Space Streakings and Zeni Geva.

Sakes went on to play in the band Colossamite with future Deerhoof members Ed Rodriguez and John Dieterich. He is currently a member of the Minneapolis post-hardcore trio Upright Forms, who released their debut LP “Blurred Wires” last year. Fleming was the founding drummer of Laddio Bolocko and then The Mars Volta. He recently performed with Jagels in the band Shatter on Impact, as heard on SKiN GRAFT’s “Sounds To Make You Shudder!” Halloween compilation.

Taking influence from hardcore punk and jazz music, Dazzling Killmen has been noted by critics and peers as having influenced the genres that came to be known as math rock and post-metal. The band’s final album “Face of Collapse” was reissued in a deluxe, expanded edition in 2016 and again in 2022 in by SKiN GRAFT Records.
