🌱 We are part of a vital whole 🌱

We recognise that we are an interdependent network of relationships and spaces that sustain us, and that our actions have an impact. Respect, care, listening, reciprocity and resilience guide our path.
In honouring our first principle, we’ve teamed up with Environmental Education and Response CIC, an organisation dedicated to food waste and litter prevention through community ownership and empowerment. Here are some actions we're taking to become a greener festival, in which you're welcome and encouraged to get involved!

♻️ Litter picking (1:00–2:00pm)
Join EER for an organised litter pick around Chestnuts Park and discover what ends up in our shared communal spaces.

🌱 Demo Eco House (4:15–5:00pm)
Visit EER’s demo eco house in the outdoor area for a seed sowing, growing and food recycling session and conversation, exploring how we can divert resources from landfill and our streets.

We’re taking other steps as a festival to lower our impact on the planet, particularly around food. There are many ways in which you can help too!
🥬 We're a meat-free festival, giving us the opportunity to explore more sustainable alternatives to our traditional food.

♻️ Waste sorting. We’ll have different waste bins around the festival, so please take a moment to dispose of your waste in the right place. Every little action helps!

♻️ We're reducing single-use plastics wherever possible, and we’d love for you to join us in this effort.

💧Unfortunately there is no water filling point around the festival but please bring your own water (ideally in a reusable bottle). Canned water will also be available to purchase at the ALTER.NATIVA Bar.

🚴🏽Use public transport, walk or cycle to the venue.

Let’s make the festival, and our communities, greener together. 🌿

INTRODUCING THE BURSARY WINNERS! 📢 We’re beyond excited to have 🌱Semillas en Red🌱 in ALTER.NATIVA Festival – a project that invites us to think of seeds as ancestral technologies: living devices that store and transmit memory, travelling across generations until they reach our node in the present

The work is developed by chixi proxy (Catalina Polanco) and explores the resonances between spaces created to preserve seeds and memory, such as the community garden Huerto Semilla Sisay, and the possibilities for technological autonomy offered by LoRa networks.
Each seed connects us with those who cared for it before us and places us in the position of building the next node of connection.

Through this parallel between seed circulation and decentralised communication networks, the project asks how technological infrastructures might be imagined through practices of care, collective memory and territorial autonomy.

🌿 is an artist, technologist, educator, and community organiser. their practice lies at the intersection of art, technology, territory, and collective organising, exploring how digital infrastructures can be reappropriated to strengthen autonomy, memory, and community ties.

🌿 Huerto Semilla Sisay is a community space for cultivation, popular education and collective organisation that connects working with the land to processes of memory, resistance and transformation across Abya Yala. The garden is a meeting place where growing food, exchanging seeds and learning collectively are connected to histories, knowledge and territorial struggles.

Every seed carries a story🌱🌱🌱 What stories have yours told you?🌷🌻🌶️ Join us at ALTER.NATIVA Festival and lets start listening
