Scientific Instrument Makers are the foundation of technology. Without scientific instruments there is no measurement and without measurement innovation is nearly impossible. The Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers (SIM) is one of the City of London’s 108 livery companies. We are a modern livery company which supports young people who wish to become scientists and engineers. We also

play a role in the development of government policy in measurement standards. Every year, City livery companies give over £45 million to education, charities and awards. SIM awards apprenticeship bursaries as well as post-graduate and post-doctoral fellowships. As part of this, we support the Arkwright Scholarship scheme and the Young Engineer of the Year award. If you are involved in science, engineering, electronics and related disciplines, you could play a key role in SIM.
