Laizhou and Big Builds >>> https://bit.ly/4rqJxop

Across the world in China, Laizhou is an extremely ambitious and serious new wh**ky distillery. Founded in 2021 on a truly vast site in Sichuan, Laizhou has a mix of pot and column stills that are used to create both easy-going wh**ky for blends and much more serious single malt wh**ky. Of particular merit is the Laizhou Peated Bourbon Cask which stunned our own Billy Abbott during the IWSC judging.

It is commendable that the site was also built with sustainable goals in mind with eco-minded building materials, equipment and waste management.

Angus MacRaild and Talisker 1979 Cadenhead's >>> https://bit.ly/4rqJxop

Highlights from the Old & Rare Zone

We asked our old and rare exhibitors to share some of the drams they're most excited to be opening at the show. These two Taliskers from Cadenhead's are ones that Angus MacRaild will have on his stand.

These bottlings from Cadenhead's of 1979 Talisker have a solid reputation. They seem to capture that maritime and peppery spice that is utterly characteristic of the distillery and turn the dial up to 11. Rare to try one but as Angus put it in his own words: "Amazing double-take on the Talisker distillate. "

Edward Zeng and Smith's Glenlivet 1924 >>> https://bit.ly/4rqJxop

Highlights from the Old & Rare Zone

We asked our old and rare exhibitors to share some of the drams they're most excited to be opening at the show. This 1924 bottling of Glenlivet is one that Edward Zeng will have on his stand.

In his own words: "very rarely do we get to try a single malt wh**ky from the "Pre-War" era. Bottled by John Harvey & Sons (still going strong today, known for their Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry), this measured at an impressive strength of 44.85% ABV by the good folks at Dornoch Wh**ky Bar, who opened another bottle last year."

Glenrothes and Big Drams >>> https://bit.ly/4rqJxop

Making headlines earlier this summer with the discovery of a 57 year old cask in private hands, Glenrothes is, evidently, a wh**ky that can take some time in oak. It is a big dram, a robust dram and one that needs time both in the cask and in the tasting glass to open up.

The mix of rather tall onion stills, boil bulbs and a slow distillation means that what does flow off the still has serious weight.

SATURDAY 3 OCTOBER | 2:30PM - 3:45PM

With all our masterclasses we try to curate experiences that you cannot find anywhere else. For this session we are truly delighted to be bringing together two giants of the American wh***ey industry, Heaven Hill's Conor O'Driscoll and Bardstown's Dan Callaway, to share some whiskies that they are particularly excited by and which are, currently, unavailable in the UK. Bolstering their choices, Dawn Davies MW will be sharing expressions of both Pappy van Winkle and Thomas H Handy Sazerac.

Eimwerk and Icelandic Know How >>> https://bit.ly/4rqJxop

A pioneer in Icelandic wh**ky, Eimverk work exclusively with Icelandic grown grain. Inspired by Icelandic traditions, and the country’s unique flavours, their whiskies offer a style all of their own, that includes and is not limited using sheep dung in the malting process.

Suntory Small Batch Bourbon >>> https://bit.ly/4rqJxop

Jim Beam, Booker’s, Basil Hayden and K**b Creek are brought together under one star-spangled banner on Suntory’s Small Batch Bourbon stand. These are some incredible whiskies that have real heritage standing behind them and show the incredible diversity of their shared distillery home. Jim Beam, both the brand and the distillery, is one of the giants of the industry, but it has deep and meaningful roots and unbreakable ties to its distilling dynasty which still heads it up and shapes the annual releases of the iconic Booker’s.

Basil Hayden is the archetype of the high rye bourbon style and one that for many years was the only rye-forward wh***ey that was readily available this side of the pond and which understandably has won it a loyal following.

In the heart of Kentucky bourbon country, K**b Creek has built its name on patient ageing and a bold, oak-led style

The Heart Cut and Following Flavour >>> https://bit.ly/4rqJxop

The powerhouse duo of Georgie Bell and Fabrizio Leoni are known for exploring casks and spirits not often found elsewhere, chasing flavour and championing styles from around the world.

That has seen them at the forefront of the English wh**ky revolution as well as looking much further afield to the Nordics, the USA and especially for Wh**ky Show 2025 Kanosuke in Japan.

Three Blind Men: A Shot in the Dark >>> https://bit.ly/46ktQrf

Saturday 3 October | 4:30pm-5:45pm

Tasting wh**ky blind and working out what it is is a skill that takes many years of practice. Or it can be a moment of blind luck. Either way, this annual tasting is a chance to go up against the experts in a blind tasting while drinking excellent wh**ky.

Wh**ky writer Dave Broom, Wh**kyfun.com’s Serge Valentin and Elixir Distillers' Sukhinder Singh will be guided by Dawn Davies MW as they taste the same whiskies as everyone else in the room, but will they be able to guess what they are?
