A great event starts with a great welcome 👋

Birmingham and the West Midlands are defined by their people - diverse, welcoming, and experienced in hosting major international events. From local communities and cultural voices to business leaders and sector specialists, it’s this human connection that shapes the delegate experience from arrival to departure.

For event organisers, that means delegates who feel comfortable, supported, and engaged in a destination that understands how to host the world. A place where a rich mix of culture, expertise and everyday warmth means international audiences feel instantly welcomed 🌍

The Birmingham and West Midlands Convention Bureau helps organisers build those connections - linking events to local networks, industry expertise, and authentic regional experiences that enhance engagement and create lasting impact.

📍 Visit Stand B53 at The Meetings Show to find out why Birmingham and the West Midlands could be the perfect host for your next event.

The meetings and incentives industry doesn't exist in a vacuum — it's shaped by how travel is distributed, bought and sold globally.

It’s time to give a warm welcome to the wonderful Olivia Wilkie, Senior Project Executive at Asembl. and one of our inspirational Tomorrow’s Talent 2026 winners 🏆

Since beginning her career in events in 2022, Olivia has progressed rapidly - in less than a year at asembl., she has led large-scale events, managed international projects independently, and earned client praise for her calm, professional and people-first approach. Passionate about sustainability and nurturing future talent, Olivia actively supports education, outreach and community initiatives, bringing authenticity and a human touch to everything she does.

Hear what Olivia has to say about being listed as one of our Tomorrow’s Talent 2026 winners ⬇️

“Being selected as a Tomorrow’s Talent winner feels absolutely surreal! I started in the industry in 2022, and it’s already been a rollercoaster, but that’s exactly what makes this work so exciting. It’s fast-paced, intense and sometimes exhausting, but we love creating experiences that truly matter to people.

“To be recognised in this way is such an honour. I’ve always believed that mentorship and learning from others is the best way to grow in this human-led industry. I’m excited to be part of the programme - learning, collaborating, and growing alongside like-minded people who share the same passion.”

What a moment it was yesterday for our Portfolio Director, Jack Marczewski, to join senior leaders at Portcullis House in Westminster for a Parliamentary roundtable focused on improving consistency and action around accessibility in events.

Hosted by All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events in partnership with The Business of Events and ICCWales, chair Martin Rhodes MP for Glasgow North committed to asking for a meeting with Ministers to explore how policymakers can support the industry's ambitions and help create greater alignment around accessibility standards 👏

The session followed the Access All Areas: Closing the Accessibility Gap in Events report, which highlights that one in three delegates identifies as having a disability, yet 93% still face barriers when attending events.

We wanted to attend as part of our ongoing commitment to creating a more accessible and inclusive event experience, reflecting the evolving needs of today’s event professionals.

Jack was joined by
📌 Shani Dhanda
📌 Andy Williamson (Welcome Brain Consulting)
📌 Gabrielle Austen-Browne (Diversity Alliance)
📌 Craig Bingham (ICC Wales)
📌 Amy Phillips (ICC Wales)
📌 Jade Spencer (BCD Meetings & Events)
📌 Simon Sabin (SQLBits)
📌 Allison Garoghan (Alzheimer's Society)
📌 Robert Wright (The Business of Events)

Making her Tomorrow’s Talent debut this year, let us introduce you to the fabulous Lily Shackleford, Senior Sales & Events Coordinator at Foxhills and one of our amazing Tomorrow’s Talent 2026 winners 🏆

In her current role, Lily builds strong relationships with clients and manages enquiries through to contract. A passionate advocate for making events feel more engaging and personal, Lily loves discovering what each client is looking to achieve so she can help shape the right experience for them - whether that’s through creative use of space, thoughtful planning, incorporating wellness into the overall experience, or anything and everything in between.

Hear what Lily has to say about being listed as one of our Tomorrow’s Talent 2026 winners ⬇️

“Being selected as a Tomorrow’s Talent winner is such a proud moment for me. It’s exciting to be recognised alongside so many talented people across the industry. I see every day how events are evolving, especially with the shift towards more experience-led and wellness-focused programmes, so I’m really looking forward to building on that through this opportunity.

“I’m excited to grow my confidence, learn from others, and meet people who are just as passionate about events. I’m hoping to take everything I gain from the programme and bring fresh, creative ideas back into my role.”

Why should professional opportunities mean a choice between your career and family life? They shouldn’t and, at The Meetings Show this year, they don’t have to 🙌

In creating an event experience that works for modern attendees, we’re thrilled to have partnered with event childcare specialist Nipperbout to provide a fully-staffed onsite creche at this year’s show – the first event industry trade show to do so 👶

Welcoming children of all ages, and located just moments from the show floor in North Gallery 10 & 11, parents/carers can pre-book here by 10th June quoting event code: TMS240626 👉 https://nipperbout.filemaker.link/fmi/webd/nipperbout (drop-ins also welcome, space permitting, on a first-come, first-served basis).

With a dedicated breast feeding and nappy changing area too, this crèche is all about making it easier for delegates to attend, participate and get the most from the show – with no work-life compromises necessary.

A city after our own heart 🌆❤

Much like at The Meetings Show, diversity, innovation and connectivity combine in Toronto, and we’re thrilled this vibrant city is joining us as a partner this year – as well as a fantastic exhibitor with much to offer 🙌

Home to more than a quarter of Canada’s largest business headquarters, and nurturing a booming start-up culture, Toronto is a global influencer in everything from technology to life sciences and financial services.

As Canada’s largest city, and with direct flights from London taking a little over seven hours, the city combines world-class infrastructure with a welcoming, internationally-minded atmosphere.

With more than 180 hotels and 43,000 events spaces, and iconic Canadian experiences including Niagara Falls, Ontario wine country, and Muskoka all within easy reach, Toronto can deliver both the scale and sophistication of a major international city, as well as the warmth and accessibility that defines Canada itself.
