About Wolves use new writing and experimental studio theatre to give a voice to the wild women throughout history and the present whose stories have been silenced. The company was founded based on a desire to see more female characters on stage, and to tell the stories of women who did not conform to traditional gender roles or expectations but who achieved or experienced amazing, fascinating things and deserve to have their tales told.

HAPPY FRIDAY WOLVES!

Calling all female actors/performers: come join our pack for a workshop of full on PLAY!

Do you ever feel you've lost the sense of play in your work as an actor or performer? Do you ever feel restricted by the roles on offer to you? Or boxed in by the phrase 'know your casting'? Do you sometimes feel lonely or isolated working in this industry and wish you had a chance to let loose, take risks and play with your peers without breaking the bank?

If you answered yes to any (or all!) of these questions then About Wolves has the workshop for you. Run as a collective the workshop will use techniques from comedy improv, clowning and ensemble devising to create a safe and playful environment to then share work.

Sunday Dec 3rd 2-5pm !

Hello Wolf Pack! We are running another workshop on Staging Women's Stories this Sunday 20th August 2:30-5:30pm at the fully accessible Jerwood Space. The cost is £10 and we will be sharing some of our devising & writing techniques for generating material inspired by true events, developing your confidence in giving women from history a voice on stage (that's all self-identifying women who may have been overlooked in history!). The workshop is currently only open to self-identifying women but we hope to run ones in the future open to all. We hope this will also be a great chance to meet women creating work about other women from history ahead of running a new writing night next year to showcase such pieces. "This isn’t new: the invisibility of q***r, le***an and trans women as well as trans men and the non-binary community is ongoing, and certainly a battle to be fought... Invisibility is dangerous. Representation matters. Young LGBT+ people beginning to discover themselves need to look to a world in which they see their reflection. Empowerment comes when young le***an, bis*xual, trans and q***r women have role models readily available to them, who are promoted and supported by the media and events such as Pride."

As Pride approaches it becomes all too achingly clear that once again there's a lot more 'G' than LBT+ in the marketing, the events and in the coverage. ...
