Happy Birthday to the one and only! 👊🏻

Happy birthday Uncle Chuck, you would’ve been 59 years old today. As always it’s wild to think of what you would be doing in this chapter of your life if you were still with us. In a perfect world we would be in your backyard, smelling you cooking on the grill surrounded by live oak trees. I would walk into your house for a drink and smell nag champ floating through the air with some vinyl spinning in the background. Unfortunately this world is not perfect but it is beautiful. You made it beautiful for just having existed, your legacy lives on sweet Chuck. I love you. I’ll see you in your backyard one day.

Always chat it up with strangers. A friendly conversation over a black flag tattoo led me to realize he also has a Scream Bloody Gore piece. Couldn’t and didn’t want to see it as it’s on his upper thigh but this dude gets a book as a token of my appreciation 🤘🏻.

31 years ago today Chuck showed Zero Tolerance with the release of this juggernaut of an album. I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Symbolic. Growing up Death was always around but just washed over me passively. This was the first album that Chuck really sat down with me to listen. I’ve always considered it the perfect album to introduce someone to Death because how timeless and approachable it is. This album made the world ready for Chuck’s melodic shift and it will forever be a masterpiece.

36 years ago today this album altered the future of metal forever. I remember in Chuck’s home office he had this poster on his wall with his infamous religious freak neighbor Joan labeled as the lady with the pink sweater on the left 🤣🤘🏻🤣🤘🏻

Happy birthday Chuck, you would’ve been 58 years old today. I have an appointment in Altamonte and of course I will see you everywhere as I always do. Afterwards I will be having lunch with your father and sister. There will be no tears, only gratitude and melancholy laughter in your honor. It may sound cliche, but for the young guys on here, cherish your childhood, adolescence, and the family that is infused into it. It seems just yesterday that Chuck picked me up from school early, stood in line at peaches to get me Red Hot Chili Pepper tickets, then spent hours at the Altamonte mall absolutely destroying me in Galaga. In the blink of an eye, I’m now sitting here writing this post. Savor what you feel and what you see. Things that may not seem important now, But may be tomorrow. I love you Chuck.
