Privileged to be helping out at last night's Waltham Forest Music Service Battle of the Bands 2026.

Congratulations to the winners, Ultramarine from Frederick Bremer with their version of Arctic Monkeys' Snap Out of It. And special mention to the two runners-up: J And The Rags from Willowfield School with Fleetwood Mac's Silver Springs and Hate The Radio from with Rage Against The Machine's Wake Up. And well done to all of the bands who performed last night. It was epic.

We look forward to seeing these bands on our own stage soon.

And we have some big news coming for a big event in November with these winners and more, with Waltham Forest Music Service ...

We're excited to be part of the once again this year. Check out loads of We Can Be Heroes regulars performing at various spots and venues throughout the week-long event, including , , .music, , and more!

On Saturday, 27th June, are kicking off the festivities with a headline slot at St John's Churchyard E11. Free entry!

It's part of Everywhere At Once powered by The National Lottery.

From 26–28 June, hundreds of venues across the UK will come together for one huge weekend of live music, with 1000+ gigs, 400+ venues.

This is a different kind of festival. Closer to the music. Where local matters. Where everyone belongs.

Our friends .music are running a charity open mic in support of on 19th June at N22.

Acts don’t have to be all female but they ask for songs by female artists to be played.

What a day it was! We're still reeling from a most excellent afternoon at last Monday, 4th May. 7 live acts playing extended sets in front of an excited and enthusiastic crowd.

We can't wait to do it all again soon.

Our next event is on Sunday, 5th July at . We'll have 16 acts on the big stage from 1pm, and a DJ keeping things going until 6pm.

It's free for under-19s, and just £5 in advance for adults. Tickets are available now!

We are full! Performer applications for our 5th July We Can Be Heroes music event are now closed.

We are excited by so many young acts getting in contact, and our next event promises to be a mix of new talent and a few familiar faces.

If you've applied, then expect to hear from us over the coming days about the next steps. We have had so many applications this time that we cannot guarantee a slot to everyone, but will do our best to feature as many acts as we can. And we will also have a waiting list once again.

Thanks to everyone for the ongoing support and enthusiasm! See you on 5th July!

Remember:

Performance slots are for young people aged 19 and under only.

Limit is three songs per band and two songs per soloist/ duo.

Songs can be originals or covers in any music genre.

Slots are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, whilst maintaining a balance of bands and solo performers.

It's always free to apply and free to perform. And it's also free to attend for all under-19s.

Adult tickets are now available for just £5 each. They will be more on the door. All young people must be accompanied by a responsible adult, but one adult can be responsible for up to six young people.

Set your calendars and tag your friends: Applications for the 5th July We Can Be Heroes at are opening on Monday, 11th May, in the evening.

Applications will be via Google Form from our website and bio.

It's free to apply, free to perform, and free to attend for all under-19s. All we ask is that you adhere to these simple rules:

- Performance slots are for young people aged 19 and under only.
- Limit is 3 songs per band (max. 15 minutes) and 2 songs per soloist / duo (max. 10 minutes).
- Songs can be originals or covers in any music genre.
-Slots are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, whilst maintaining a balance of bands and solo performers.
