👀 Ever wondered what Boudicca’s pre-battle glam routine looked like?

🤣 Turns out it involved swirly blue face paint and saying a prayer that she isn’t caught in the staff toilets getting ready!

🎭 At The Drama Hut, our interactive history drama workshops bring characters like Boudicca to life through storytelling, roleplay, costumes and immersive educational experiences for schools.

🌱 Fun fact: the Celts were said to use woad, a blue plant dye, to paint their faces and bodies before battle to scare the enemy!

🤔 How much do you know about Mary Seacole?

Here are 3 facts that may surprise you:

1️⃣ She funded her own trip to the Crimean War after being refused by the British Army.
2️⃣ She set up the ‘British Hotel’ near the front line, where she cared for wounded soldiers and provided food and shelter.
3️⃣ She often went directly onto the battlefield to nurse injured soldiers, earning admiration from soldiers who called her ‘Mother Seacole’.

🎭 History is full of stories like this but they’re even more powerful when brought to life.

🤔 What did Samuel Pepys hide during the Great Fire of London? 🔥

📕 In his famous diary, Pepys recorded burying his cheese and wine to keep them safe as the fire spread across London!

🎭 In this moment, during our Great Fire of London workshop being delivered here online, our wonderful actor Jenna steps into role as Pepys, bringing his words, decisions and world to life in a way children can truly connect with.

🏫 Whether delivered online or in person, this workshop is designed to be fully interactive. Children are invited to respond, question, imagine, and take part, making choices alongside Pepys and exploring what life was like during the fire.

🖥️ Even online, the session becomes an exciting space for storytelling, discussion, and drama, where pupils are active participants rather than just observers.
