FAB FEST '18

FAB FEST '18 An urban summer festival site specific for the unique space of Ambika P3 and University of Westminster Central London campus.

In Summer 2017, fABE will be hosting for the second time an International Fabrication Festival to which you are all invited to attend or participate. Fab Fest will run for a week, in July, to coincide with the end of OPEN2017 and the start of the summer. It will take place in Ambika P3 and its access routes. The aim is to create an urban summer festival, site specific for the unique space of Ambik

a P3 and our Central London campus. The event will develop out of the work of 50+ teams of students designing and fabricating innovative cardboard pavilions. We will provide the cardboard, fixings, and resources from the Fabrication Laboratory. The brief is for teams to produce a free-standing pavilion to engage with and enhance the experience of the festival, for both participants and visitors. Teams will comprise students of architecture and the built environment at all levels, each team mentored by either an academic from fABE or a professional from practice. You will join teams invited from China, India, Turkey, Sao Paulo, the US and other international and UK universities. The sites for the pavilions will be around a number of more or less formal stages on which activities will take place throughout the week. The event is both a festival and competition - guest judges will decide the best pavilions on the night with cash prizes for the winning teams. More information will be announced soon. We look forward to seeing you there!
