Throw back to The Fusion Cluster's brilliant video created at last year's New Scientist Live. Here's what they said:

"💡 Fusion, through the eyes of the next generation…

We asked kids at New Scientist Live what they think about fusion energy. Answers ranged from “I don’t know” to “really, really cool,” with colours like purple, magenta, black and white, and emojis including 🔥⚡💥 and 🤯.

Turns out, even 7–17 year olds know that fusion is complicated, exciting and maybe a little mysterious. But they also sense its potential to change the world.

It’s a good reminder: for all the science, the messaging still matters. Fusion energy isn’t just about reactors and magnets - it’s about inspiring curiosity, imagination, and yes, a bit of wonder (and maybe confusion) along the way.

The Fusion Cluster are Widening Participation Partner at New Scientist Live 2026.
