The latest chapter in our Podcast Series was written by Brighton-based DJ and Tonight’s Dream Records label founder Kai Dittos, aka Light Of Cacti ✨

I’ve known Kai through Tonight’s Dream for the best part of five years, discovering his work through the label’s first release back in 2022 and instantly feeling drawn into its world, as well as connected to the person behind it. Over time, I found out more about his Light Of Cacti project, so when we started talking about releasing one of his mixes under the alias, it felt so natural. I’m so chuffed we’re finally making it happen 🌸

Kai’s mix is deeply introspective and somewhat moody, with a strong thread of grounded energy running through it as it ebbs and flows, exploring the various flavours of ambient and downtempo music. Within, you’ll find field-recording-laden ambient drones swelling up before giving way to moments of sparsity. You’ll hear voices moving their way through atmospheric mists, opening into explorations of introspective territories of halftime and dubwise rhythms, and ethereal minimal bliss 🫧

Over the years, Introspective Electronics grew into something way bigger than I ever expected and I am so grateful for the love and support from its growing community of listeners all over the world 🌏

The Netil Radio show was central to this growth as well as my personal development as an artist, DJ and promoter and together with my time behind the counter at Phonica Records laid a solid foundation for my career in music ~ in the booth as well as behind the scenes.

I want to express my undying my gratitude to Luca for giving me the initial push and to Miro for putting his trust in me so early on. I am forever in your debt 💞

Every second Thursday of the month for exactly seven years, with a few rare exceptions, I showed up at the Netil Radio shipping container with a bag full of music I discovered or known well but felt most connected to that month. To me, every show was another diary entry. I wore my feelings on my sleeve every time, tuning into and navigating life through sound and hoping that there was someone somewhere listening in, resonating. I always felt radio was a very intimate format and allowed for a very special connection with the audience 🤗

In the latest chapter of our Podcast Series our guest ~ Prieste5s ~ leans into a wide range of influences across the genre spectrum that together make up her sonic palette. Bass-heavy sounds, hypnotic elements, breakbeats, and experimental textures coexist within a constant flux of field recordings, immersive ambient scapes 🫧

In her introspective mix, she allows soundscapes to simmer with patience and care while creating space for both stillness and rhythm alike conjuring a world where sound oscillates between the delicate and the coarse, where cushiony ambiences meet abrasive cadences and where frontiers of sonic introspection are pushed out of their comfort zone 🪶
