Looking forward to the next gig at the Chalkwell Park Rooms on Wednesday 11th February, where we welcome back to the club contemporary jazz guitarist Roberto Restuccia.
Joining Roberto for the evening will be Oli Silk on keyboards, Orefo Orakwue on bass and Westley Joseph on drums.
Hailing from London, England, Roberto is currently taking the contemporary jazz scene by storm with 2 billboard #1 hits under his belt and having the district honour of opening for jazz Legend George Benson, he continues to showcase his soulful and melodic approach in both Europe and in the USA.
Considering his dexterity, fluidity and intuitive sense of melody and harmony, one of the most remarkable aspects of UK guitarist and composer Roberto Restuccia’s musical background is that he’s largely self-taught. He enrolled for a year at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford and his time at the renowned school helped him develop his skills with harmony and theory, but Roberto often likes to say that he went to the “University of Slash,” first learning to play from VCR recordings of concerts by Guns N’ Roses and Pearl Jam, pausing the videos and doing his best to copy the licks of Slash and Mike McCready. Roberto credits the evolution of his jazz and blues sensibilities to influential figures like Chuck Loeb, George Benson, Larry Carlton, Ronnie Jordan, Robben Ford and Jeff Golub. While experimenting with different styles, he had long set his sights on success in the smooth jazz genre, which, he says, “grabs me from every direction, mixing funk and jazz, with openings to blues it up.” A longtime fan of Oli Silk, Roberto met the keyboardist after one of his local UK gigs, gave him one of his own albums and their creative relationship blossomed from there. Their incredible artist-producer chemistry drives every nuance of Robertos CD “With Every Turn”, also on Roberto's brand-new CD "Hand 2 Heart", which has recently been released on Trippin N Rhythm Records.
