SCREEN CUBA 2026 POSTER If you haven't managed to get your festival poster at a screening - order one now online! Only £5 + p&p in UK. See link in bio ☝

🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺 Designed by two young Cuban graphic designers in Havana - Roberto Perez Curbelo ('Potto') and Dayron Giro. .giro.design

The A3 poster has been digitally printed in the UK and is sold to raise funds to support projects of the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC) including restoration of films in archives and distribution.

The design was inspired by the typical vintage car in Havana, transformed into a mobile cinema, and the screen print style of 60s and 70s posters in Cuba. The poster shows us the power of Cubans to invent something of beauty for all – from whatever they have.

Today The Guardian reports on Cuban cinema's fight against the US blockade, having spoken to Screen Cuba:
“We have a very hard embargo – blockade – and it affects everything, cinema is not an exception. We are a very resilient people and if anything, we are looking for solutions, and we are looking for maintaining the creation … [of] cultural life in Cuba … and what we cannot lose right now is the hope.

“The world is in a very complex situation and Cuba is not an exception. I like to think about all the solidarity that we bring to everybody that needed us, to be there to do something, and art and culture is not an exception within that.”
Tania Delgado, Director, Havana International Festival of New Latin American Cinema

This innovative anthology feature, under the general direction of acclaimed Cuban filmmaker Fernando Pérez. Conceived and produced in just 28 days during the pandemic, the film is a remarkable act of collective creativity under constraint — six independent short works bound together by a shared moment in history and a common faith in cinema and power to bear witness.
With women directing four of the six segments, Tales of One More Day captures the emotional texture of lockdown life in Cuba with intimacy and precision. It is a film of small gestures and quiet intensities, in which love persists amid sadness, loneliness, fear and hope — and where the world standing still turns out to be no stillness at all.
