It’s a wrap for Wanstead Beer Festival 2025!

Thanks to everyone who made it to our latest edition - what a day🍻

We sold out for our third year running despite increasing capacity.

This year we picked three local charitable causes to support in Christ Church Steeple Fund, Aldersbrook Riding for the disabled, and The Wren Conservation Group.

We're pleased to say that after event costs we raised £4203.50. Therefore each charitable partner will receive an equal donation.

We also would like to thank all our sponsors for supporting our vision of a genuine community beer festival.

This year's sponsors were; Martin & Co Wanstead, Barretts, Woodthorpe Joinery and Shutters, East London Brewing Company, Logic Construction, Edward Duthie Shamash Solicitors, GESS Limited and Compassionate Funerals.

We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Thanks to everyone who attended.

Once our heads have cleared, and we're back on top of our day-jobs, we'll be back with some details on money raised for charity, etc.

All beer and cider between £4 and £5 a pint on Saturday. You don't have to drink much to recover the ticket cost, versus local pub prices. We will also have very reasonably priced prosecco and gin, and a BBQ. And you will walk away with a souvenir pint glass!

And remember, all proceeds go to local charities.

Don't miss Pangalactic Pale from at Wanstead Beer Festival.

This pale ale has a typical pale malt bill. Crisp’s Maris Otter was used as the base, with a small amount of Weyermann’s CaraAroma for a slight caramel twist. EKG is the bittering hop, with Galaxy and Ella providing the flavour and aroma. Galaxy really is the star of the show here, giving peach, passionfruit and citrus notes to the beer.

Porter is a style of beer first brewed in London, in the early 18th century. The name is believed to have originated from its popularity with market porters. It became the first beer style brewed around the world, being produced in Ireland, North America, Sweden, and Russia by the end of the 18th century. Strong porters, or "stouts", followed, and eventually we ended up with Guiness, among others.

Anyway, enough plagiarising Wikipedia. Porter is clearly an important part of London's beer history, so needless to say, we have a few at the festival. One example is Fellowship London Porter.

Dark brown, with chocolate, coffee, liquorice and dry roasted malt flavours complimented with hints of dark fruit, its generous late hopping adds some zest and the initial sweetness fades into a restrained bitter finish.

And it's a SIBA Gold medal winner to boot!
