“Club Tropicana, drinks are free - Fun and sunshine, there's enough for everyone” Celebrating 40 Years of Club Tropicana / 20 years of overturning Section 28 celebration in the woods. A coalition of London’s LGBTQIA+ community are organising ‘This is My Culture 7’ a ‘free party and protest to remember the Queer Icon’s, life, talent and courage in celebrating sexual freedom. This will be the 7th an

niversary of the legendary party set up after the artist’s death in 2016 to celebrate his birthday in June. The party is named after the moment George was taking a late-night stroll on Hampstead Heath when he was ambushed by a photographer from the News of the World and responded with “Are you gay? This is my culture!” Just one example of how George Michael helped millions to re-evaluate and transform how they saw and embraced sexuality. This year two celebrations are at the heart of ‘This Is My Culture.’ The 40th anniversary of Wham! Iconic Summer song ‘Club Tropicana’ and the 20th anniversary of the anti-Section 28 movement that overturned the lethal legislation in 2003 that forbade the promotion of homosexuality in public institutions. The anti ’Section 28’ activist chants of 'Never Going Underground' and ‘Lesbians and Gay Men – Out and Proud’ still speak volumes today. With the latest Conservative government attack on our Trans community as the government is intent on digging up a decades-old statute called ‘Section 35’ to veto the Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill - remembering the strength and vitality of our community has never been more important. Profits from the party will go to charities (1) Mermaids and (2) CALM - Campaign Against Living Miserably - working at the intersections between LGBTQIA+ empowerment and mental health.

On 20th April 1992 our LORD AND SAVIOUR* George Michael sang Queen’s ‘Somebody to Love’ - a song calling for divine intervention in tough times and never accepting defeat - at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. Less than one year later George’s partner Anselmo Feleppa met the same fate as Freddie.

Pharmaceutical greed, government inaction, stigma and institutional homophobia killed them during the height of the AIDS Genocide.

Today the war continues. This war-mongering government in coalition with billion-dollar profit making industries are crushing LGBTQIA+ and HIV+ support services that provide love, serenity and people power - all to benefit the 1%.

This is Our Culture (9) exists to catalyse REVOLUTIONARY LOVE in times of war!

No corporate investment and sponsorship or commodifying our sexualities and desires can ever replace genuine PRIDE. Our DJ’s are revolutionaries, our artists are revolutionaries, our organisers are revolutionaries and our crowd is revolutionary. The annual antidote we all need in a city hellbent on social and environmental destruction.
We don’t just want to survive this, we want to THRIVE.

We demand:
• Keir Starmer FUNDS HEALTHCARE NOT WARFARE - IMMEDIATELY re-instate the UK HIV and AID budget to support people living with HIV across the world.
• Sadiq Khan IMMEDIATELY and ADEQUATELY fund London’s HIV services.
• The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) IMMEDIATELY reverses their transphobic single-sex toilet policy.

So get your wedding frocks together and come and smell the sun and feel the warmth of our beautiful Earth around us as we thrash around in the tunes, oil, sweat and cm of our community - so that Freddie, Anselmo, George and everyone building a world of sexual freedom can Rest in Power and Peace.

The date is not public, ask your trusted friends and lovers if they know about when and where our party takes place, and we’ll see you there!

Last weekend a group of q***rs with  and  marched on London’s Hampstead Heath – one of Europe’s premiere cock-sucking destinations – to protest anti-cruising flyers posted by some anon tosser. They gave speeches in praise of outdoor encounters and played a gropey kind of pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey called “Who’s bum is this?”, all while the coppers looked on and laughed. Between disco dancing and early spring frolicks, our correspondent asked a few Heath hotties about the ‘Sodomite’s Walk’.
